Why is it healing differently from my other 2 tattoos?
I got my third tattoo March 25. Everything went good, and it peeled and everything and it itched, and then it was fine. And now today its started to itch like no other and its starting to peel a second time. My other two peeled once and when the peeling was done itched for a few days then stopped and nothing more. I went to a new place for the third one. This ones on my calf, the others are on my right arm and chest.
Could it be a difference in the inks used? Could I be allergic to something in the ink used? Is its location why its healing differently? What can I use to help stop the itching, but won't hurt my tat?
There are no scabs or bumps or redness or anything, its just starting to peel and itch again. The itching is to the point it can't be ignored and smacking it doesn't help any. Its also still a little sore to the touch. My other two healed in about a week.
The only time anything rubs against it is when I accidentally bump it on something or I'm at work where I have to wear pants, otherwise I'm wearing shorts.
I've been using a fragrance free lotion (skin therapy by equate) which is the same thing I used on my other two. And I wash it with dial anti-bacterial hand soap which is the same soap I used on the other two.
I would call it average sized.
There's no scabbing. NONE. It's just peeling and itching again.

It could be multiple things.
It could just be the location. It could be rubbing on your clothes more. When you wear pants at work, and you walk it rubs on your calf. Or you even move your leg it will rub. Although like I said itching is normal, and it is normal for it to scab multiple times. It sucks lol, but it's normal. I don't advise using any creams cause you never know. I would try to bare it. The lotion should help with itching.

Its ok honestly. It is normal to "peel" or scab more than once. If you are really really still concerned go to your artist, and ask.

Everyone heals another way, and in many instances it will depend on the tattoo artist. Most of mine have healed with a significant scab, however I lately transformed tattoo artists and there used to be infrequently a scab to talk of. Try to not fear, I'm definite it's going to be nice if you're taking well care of it. And if it does want touching up, the locations commonly do it totally free.
