Local garden clubs often sponsor workshops or classes on topics such as composting, growing a particular variety of vegetable, or pest control. Learning how to start vegetable garden can seem a bit overwhelming, but with a smaller sized garden, you can experiment and see what works for you Walt Deal

Tomatoes, Peppers are usually good starter veggies as they both like acidic soil and don't take up much room per plant. A little trick i have learned for carring for any vine plant is to let it climb and then go underneiath and trim the first few leaves that are closest to the ground. This makes it harder for anything bad to infect/infest the plant itself.
However, if u are going to do tomatoes, they need to be started soon indoors.

Last year i bought a mini tomato plant and it was the easiest thing ever to care for. I just remembered to water it every now and then (every day if i could) and it thrived. It's actually kind of weird, because I don't like tomatos and i just like growing the plants... but my family likes them so its fine xD. I haven't actually grown one from a seed, but I assume it isn't that difficult because the adult plant was very easy to maintain. Good luck =) i wish i had such a green thumb =))))

My personal experience is tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, radishes, cucumbers, oregano, cilantro, squash.
If you are starting out for the first time, just plant as a hobby and learn as you go. Later on you will discover what your current soil is really good for as a growing medium.
Best of luck.
