Chances are that the best used car is one which has ONE specific thing wrong, which they want to sell it because of. This is different from one thing being worse than a bunch of other problems! Well the problem is that used cars that are good runners maintain their value. Those cars would be Toyota’s Nissan’s Subaru’s and Honda's. If it's for in city driving and you don't plan on toting a bunch of people around, you should look into smart cars. Check out www.AutoTrader.com and perhaps www.Carmax.com but you can’t talk those people down in price what you see is what you get. You want to find something with less than 100,000 miles and fewer than 50,000 would be ideal. When you go for a test drive feel and listen to any clinks clunks rattles or shakes. Ohh and bring someone along that knows a decent amount about cars.
