What is Your General Opinion of Cody Rhodes?
*You Don't have to Read it All...*
I Personally don't See what Everyone likes about Him.
Someone Tried to Explain it to Me Today , But I couldn't Buy into it.
So I was Wondering if Someone Else could Enlighten Me as to Why Cody is "So Good".
MY Opinion on Cody:
Cody Rhodes is Nothing More than a Mediocre Performer with a Last Name. There's Nothing that Set's Him apart from the Rest of the Roster. He's just...Generic.
1 - He doesn't have that "Look" of a Superstar. It has Nothing to do with the Fact He's Small , He just Doesn't look like a Superstar. Christian is about the Same Size , & He just has something about Him that Makes Him a Superstar. he has "It" , Cody Doesn't.
2 - Cody is Incredibly Boring on the Mic. It's like Mixing Shelton Benjamin & Batista when He Cuts a Promo. Cody on the Mic or Ambien = Same Result , I'll be Asleep in 5 Minutes.
3 - His Move-Set leaves A LOT to be Desired. He maybe a Great Amature Wrestler & a Georgia State Champion , but His Pro Move-Set is...Average. Even though His as is All WWE Talent's Moves Watered Down , the 5-7 Moves HE has are Nothing Special.
Overall , (IMO) Cody is just Boring , & Very Unentertaining. Even His Brother Goldust is Better than Him. Actually WAY Better. Goldust Actually has Talent. Goldust is Entertaining as Hell. And in WWE , that's the Name of the Game - Entertainment. It doesn't Matter How Big You are , or How Well You can Wrestle Anymore , it's about being able to Entertain. Cody just Doesn't do it for Me.
Teddy DiBiase on the Other Hand , I Find Quite Enjoyable to Watch.
Why? - He's the Exact Opposite of Cody.
He's Bigger & has that "Look" , that Presence of a Superstar.
He can Actually Cut a Promo & be Decent on the Mic,
His 5-7 Moves are Actually somewhat Impressive.
And , I don't Care what Anyone Else Says , Teddy IS Randy Orton (Circa 2002). In Everything. The Same Look , the Same Talent , Basically the Same Moves. Hell , Slap some Tattoos on Teddy & You got a Dead Ringer for a Young Randy.
Cody just looks like...an Indy Wrestler who got Lucky to make it to WWE for awhile.
My Overall Opinion on Cody (& Teddy) - Teddy has a Great Potential to be a World Champion , a Mid Card Champion at the Very Least.
Cody has the Potential to...be Teddy's Manager or a Mid Card/ Tag Wrestler for His Career.
I'm just Waiting for Cody to be Jannetty'd & go through a Window...
My 1 Sentence Statement about Cody - If it wasn't for Dusty Working Backstage , Cody would've been "Future Endeavored" a LONG Time Ago.
*EDIT* - Why is it Madison & _J_ are Always the Only Ones to Disagree with Me?...
LMAO
Madison - Pressure is Not Always a Bad Thing. Look at Cena. All the Pressue HE'S Under , Yet He Still Performs at the Top of His Game.
For All We Know , Teddy might actually LIKE the Pressure. Maybe it Drives Him.
Madison & _J_ - Fathers. Big Difference Here , Teddy's Dad , Isn't on the WWE Payroll. Teddy's Dad isn't a Major Player Backstage. And Teddy's Dad is a Mediocre Legend , Cody's is a Legit Legend. Take Dusty off the Payroll and See How Cody Does. Put Him in Singles Matches (Like Jamie said) and See How He does. He'd get Jobbed Out.
It'd be the Same as with Manu - His Father was Released from the Payroll , & What Happened a Few Weeks Later? No more Manu. Granted , Cody is in WAY better Shape , but Still...
Edgehead - I'm in Witness Protection , Don't Worry about that. Plus , I'm Bored , & wanted to have some Fun...
*EDIT* - I'm Not Arguing Anyone (Including Madison or _J_) that Cody has the Basic Fundementals of a Wrestler. But that's All He's Got.
I'm Arguing , Cody doesn't have Superstar Potential , that's All.
And Madison - I have to Disagree , Cody Should be TRYING to be His Father. Teddy Not being like His Father Helps , because The Million Dollar Man was an Average Performer. Dusty Rhodes was Anything but Average , He was a Superstar.
Cody Should be Trying to Emulate Dusty , Hell , maybe Even be a Knockoff of Him. Or go the Goldust Route , & Change Completely. Right Now He's just too...Generic.
IDK , I just can't See or Hear this Statement from Lillian - "And the NEW WWE Champion...Cody Rhodes!"
Just don't see it happening...

I gotta disagree with you, too.
When Cody started, yeah, he was a raw rookie who could barely find the ring without Holly taking him by the hand, much less put on a decent match. His promos were awful, no other way to put it.
But in the short time he's been in the WWE (and he's been there every day, unlike Dibiase) it's obvious Cody has worked his butt off, listening and learning. His ring performances have improved greatly and he's developed into a decent heel. His promos have improved, as well. True, he ain't Chris Jericho, but then who is?
Cody has a lot of potential. And a lot of years to develop that potential. I'm enjoying watching the kid develop into a good performer.
Ted Dibiase Jr, on the other hand...where do I start? When it was just RUMORED that he had signed a "development deal" with the WWE, many already labeled him a WWE World Champ. All Ted needed to do was show up and Vince would just give him the WWE Title. I kept reading others' comments on how awesome a wrestler Ted Dibiase Jr is (not far-fetched given who his father is), and how great he is on the mic. All through his "development" cycle many talked about how he would revolutionize the WWE when he got called up. My God, I was expecting Stone Cold Bret "The Rock" Guerrero to walk out on RAW!
What we got was a big kid who said little and wrestled even less. What a disappointment! They teamed him with Cody and tossed the Tag Titles on them then they proceeded to get beat up all over the place. The WWE ties them to Orton's coattails which gets them a little bit of a rub, then Orton Kick Of Dooms Dibiase and he's gone for months (it doesn't matter why he left; he left before "revolutionizing" the WWE, dumb move on his part {or Vince's, for taking him off TV}).
He finally comes back and what has he done? Nothing beyond getting beat up some more and be part of a gang. He doesn't even talk much.
Cody has potential, and he HAS improved tremendously since his debut. Ted, according to a lot of people, has potential, but he hasn't done a damn thing to prove it. He's still the same big green kid who debuted on RAW last year. I'm still waiting for him to "revolutionize" the WWE...or do SOMETHING to justify so many people's glowing praise.
Cody has improved all aspects of his performances tremendously since his debut. Ted has not; he's still the same as the first day he showed up. And where are these awesome Ted Dibiase Jr promos people keep talking about? They're sure not in the WWE.
Cody may never be more than a mid-card generic (as you say) wrestler but he's in there plugging away every day, doing what's asked of him, paying his dues, improving.
Ted reminds me a lot of Carlito in that he seems to be standing around waiting for the gold belts to start arriving in the mail but not doing anything to deserve them, expecting to be a big star just because his father was. It took his brother coming in to jolt Carlito to start living up to his potential. Is that what Ted needs, too?

I Agree With You. Many People Say That He Is The Future Of This Business, But Really Now? What Makes Anyone Think That? Yes, He Is The Son Of Hall Of Famer Dusty Rhodes, But We All Know That If It Werent For His Dad, Cody Rhodes Would NOT Be Where He Is Today. And Even If He Was, He Would Be Doing Worse Than He Currently Is. Just Because He Is The Son Of A Hall Of Famer, That Means He Should Get A Push? I Find That Odd Because Even Though Their Parent May Have Been A Great Wrestler, That Doesn't Mean Anything. They Can Still Be Horrible At Wrestling Which By The Way, Cody Rhodes Is. He Cannot Cut A Promo, His Mic Skills Are Pitiful, His Wrestling Talent Bores The Hell Out Of Me, And He CANNOT Play A Good Heel Role. In My Opinion They Should Take Him To FCW So He Can Get Some More Training.

Cody Rhodes- a general wrestler with general movesets that does not seem to impress the WWE Universe in any way whatsoever. He is too skiny and looks like he hardly works out at the gym. He sucked as a World Tag Team Champion, he sucks on the mic., he sucks at performing well, and I find him plain boring. His finisher is the most ridiculus move I ever seen in my entire life, some half -assed DDT that an 87 year old grandmother can do better..... Cody Rhodes is just.... I don't know, his moves are basic and his mic skills are Terrible, so terrible it makes Kizarny's language sound better. Yep, if it was not for his father, we could have seen the following message since a long time:
WWE has come to terms of the release of RAW superstar Cody Rhodes. We wish him the best on his future endeavors...

I never have been a fan of Cody Rhodes for many reasons. I believe he can wrestle a little bit, but he does use whatever tag team partner or stablemate as a crutch. In my opinion, he will never be any kind of main eventer, where I believe that Ted Dibiase Jr. will outshine anything that his father accomplished in the ring. If the WWE is smart(which has been known to happen every now and again) they will leave him w/ Orton for a while, let him build up then there will be a big face turn which will result in Dibiase being WWE champion within a year or two.

He has a ton of potential, but I think his name will become a crutch. He will only be able to be so good if he is constantly being compared to Dusty. He is a future champion without a doubt, just look at the progress he has had in just one year!
He will also need a new finisher, anybody can do a DDT. He needs something more original.
But if he can continue to progress, he will get his shot simply because of who he is. But he can't rely on his name to get him through his career. He has to work extra hard because he is the son of a Hall of Famer. Look at Randy Orton, he is also the son of a Hall of Famet, but he worked extra hard and has exceeded his fathers success. I think the WWE sees alot of Randy in Cody, thus they put them together to give Cody the edge Randy got from Triple H and Ric Flair. Cody can and is learning alot from Randy in and out of the ring, as is Ted Dibiase. This will help Cody alot down the road.
Unlike many multigenerational superstars, he stays out of trouble outside the ring. Reid, Ted, Randy, DH, all have had problems, Cody has not. This will help him down the road aswell.
Is it Possible that Teddy is too similar to Randy? The WWE does not want 2 Randy Ortons...
Cody Would not have been Future Endeavored, He probably Would have never had a job with the WWE in the first place. But in a fickle industry like Professional Wrestling, you take the break any time you can get it. Thatis excactly waht Cody has done and it puts bread on the table.
My 1 sentence about Cody- Cody has taken advantage of a once in a life-time opprotunity that many will never get, and many people are jealous.
Why do you keep changing your name?
**Edit: I Have an Identity crisis!
Why would Cody try to be like Dusty? He is not built like Dusty. Ted Dibiase was a really good performer until he broke his neck, but Teddy is built just like his father...
Plus, Dustin tried to Emulate Dusty and it just didn't work out for him...

Gotta agree with Madison here. Cody and Dibiase have only gotten as far as they have because of their fathers. I find Cody actually more impressive in the ring than Dibiase and Dibiase better in charisma. Both are still not very good but they fit the storyline. If Cody were to be released had his father been someone else, the same could and should be said about Dibiase.
Edit: It is always more fun to disagree than to agree.
Yes, Rhodes is still on the payroll but perhaps people in the current payroll are backing Dibiase? Undertaker was placed into the company because of interest presented by both Mr. McMahon and Dibiase. Dibiase then presented 'Taker to the fans and quickly got him over. Perhaps 'Taker and others who were influenced by Dibiase are repaying him? Just a thought and has a valid chance since Undertaker would have the pull behind the scenes to back Dibiase.

Honestly, I don't understand the hype around Cody Rhodes. He's a strong candidate for the most bland wrestler in the entire company. Everything about him is forgettable. His gimmick, his outfit, his look, his in-ring skills, especially his finisher (the DDT, are you kidding me? That hasn't been done before...). To me the only reason that Cody Rhodes is being permanently pushed is because of his last name.
I know that two of the best users on here, Madison and The Dragon, disagree with me, but that's just how I feel about it. I just don't get what Vince sees in Cody. His mic skills are absolutely brutal. Take a guy like Triple H, who is average in the ring, but has incredible mic skills. He can make me laugh at any given time when he's talking, and I don't even like him. Now contrast that with Cody Rhodes, who is also average in the ring. He becomes just another dime-a-dozen wrestler if his last name wasn't Rhodes. I mean, when Cody Rhodes comes out to the ring, he looks like one of those nameless guys Mark Henry destroyed after he came back and took out The Undertaker.
I agree with you as well about "the look". Cody just doesn't have it, regardless of whether he's a face or a heel. Randy Orton has it. So does Triple H and John Cena. But Cody just looks average. Everything about him screams average.
As for Ted Dibiase, I have to go against you. I'm not a fan. I asked a question about this a bit earlier today (answer it if you've got a few minutes), and I don't understand why people go so crazy about Dibiase. Sure, I'd take him over Cody any day, but all the time on Y/A I see people talking about how they want Ted to break The Undertaker's Wrestlemania streak. Why? What is so special about him to deserve that? Like I said in my question, Ted Dibiase made his WWE debut well over a year ago now and what exactly has he done since then to warrant something like that? He's worked what, maybe two singles matches in his entire time in WWE?
Granted, he has some talent on the mic, but not like Orton does. I don't know, I'm just not that big on either one of them.

I agree with just about everything you said. I think Cody Rhodes is boring and not entertaining at all. He is an average wrestler at best and if his father wasn't a legend in the business he wouldn't even be getting any TV time at all. I prefer Ted DiBiase, I think he is a better wrestler and does a better job at playing a heel. I can see DiBiase becoming a main eventer in the future.

I really don't understand why people bash Bryan about having it too soon when hes been wrestling for over 10 years. Then their is Alberto Del Rio who everyone loves but has had less experience lol. But anyway getting back on topic Bryan deserves this you could see what it meant to him when he won it. I just hope he doesn't miss out on the opportunity to become a world champion. He needs a couple of things before he wins the title. New Entrance Music - like the one he had in 2010. He needs to drop the Nerd gimmick whatever it is (Isn't that bullying) (WWE's anti-bulling campaign) He needs to be ruthless, not to smile as much when he comes down the ring more of a angry face! Get him on the mic until he feels comfortable. Lets hope WWE use him because he is on hell of a talent!

Every answer has been mentioning "his last name"
What about DiBiase!?
His FATHER is A LEGEND...just like Cody's...
I think Cody is one of those guys that has the talent to quietly become a major Superstar. Mark my words, sooner than later...he will become a major title holder AND he WILL impress a lot of people. Especially, the ones that don't see much in him now. He never botches moves, he can at least talk on the mic and not screw up words, he CAN wrestle and he does it very well. He has impressed me a lot since his debut. He's not just another legends son, he actually does have talent. I don't have anything against Teddy, but if he doesn't live up to the hype (from all of the pressure)...everyone is going to complain about that. He may live up to the hype, but if he doesn't...there are going to be a lot of pissEd off people. He's going to be called overrated and his whole name is going to get stepped on. Cody doesn't have all of the pressure that Teddy now has. He can quietly reach the top and show his true colors in the future. They both don't have much experience. We can only see who will cross the finish line first (so to speak)...
They were both impressive in their debut's (a lot like Cena and Randy)...who is going to take Cena's place as "overrated" and who is going to take Randy's place as "An Amazing Heel who should be Champion" ...I hate comparing them, but something will happen along the way and one will becoming bigger than the other...in the fans eyes at least.
Edit: I was always a HUGE fan of Teddy's father...still am. I like him more than Cody's father. I watch a lot of 80's Wrestling ;) I don't think the status of their father's has much to do with it. Cody has always been saying "I'm not my Father" and he's proving that he is just Cody and nobody else. That's one of the things I like about him. He's trying to be his own man and not follow his father or brother.
Cena is very great under pressure, but that doesn't mean anything to the fans. He still has haters who call him overrated. That could possibly happen with Teddy, especially since his career started with so much hype.
Cody has been in singles matches and did great. He's not always in Tag Matches. Did Edge being in Tag matches change people's opinion on him? Tag or singles, it doesn't matter. A match is a match. If he can pull off great matches in tag...then he can do great in singles (which he has shown). He's working his way up, the way any future superstar would. I think he's doing a great job and I can't wait to see him in 5 years. When he has more experience and more fans on his side.
Source(s): By the way, I don't think Cena is overrated...other people do though...
