I never been a club. What do I wear? I have a full suit, jeans, dress pants, dress shirt, whats the best combo?

All right so what do I wear? It's a dance club in the city...chicago.. I have a full suit (which is usual attire for me due to my work), suit coat and all, dress shirts, dress pants, new light blue jeans, new jeans that are "in style" you know the ones that look like they've been worn for years but were really bought yesterday, dress shoes are a given...so whats the best combo...should I wear jeans(and which jeans?) and a dress shirt with the suit coat....or the same with out the suit coat, or should I wear the suit minus the coat and tie( just dress pants and shirt), or the suit with the coat...whats the best combo..I've never been to a dance club and don't know what to expect

Sweetheart, clubs are fun, not buisness casual.

If you ,must be all buisness, wear the worn jeans [[if the hem hangs on the floor with shoes on]] with a white dress shirt. Roll the sleeves of your dress shirt up so that they are just below or just above your elbox (ironing not required.) You know the spot of your collar bone that dips down? Unbutton the button under that spot and the ones above it. If you're really cool you'll wear a pair of sunglasses (preferrably oaklys or some aviators) hanging from your shirt right there. You could wear a vest (a dressy type of vest) open over the shirt DO NOT button it. NO tie. Not for any reason what so ever.

Dress shoes??? are NOT a given. A nice pair of sneakers would work, like these::http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCatProductPage.pro...

    or Sperry's like these:::http://www.sperrytopsider.com/shopping/product/det...

    would both work.

Dress shoes will make you seem uptight and thats the last thing you want at a club. But if you must, for some whack cause, wear dress shoes, get no more dressy thatn these::::http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCatProductPage.pro...

which actually aren't bad, you might be able to pull them off.

Wear your hair {{if it's short}} slightly spiked in a careless way.

    Let loose and have fun!!!

Suit or just dress pants & shirt, though it may vary by city. Newish jeans might be fine, depending on the club. Best to call ahead & find out what people wear. Don't want to be turned away at the door.

Then if you're going with a date, better check out what the other person is wearing. Or your friends. You don't want one person to wear a suit & the other person in jeans. Dress pants but not suit jacket would be ok if the other is wearing jeans. Also, to me, dark jeans look newer than light ones & therefore look dressier & fine with a sweater & sports coat. A pullover sweater for the guy would be fine, in my opinion, but then you'd need some kind of jacket outdoors. At least the sweater wouldn't be as constricting as a suit jacket for dancing, though obviously, men have danced in suit jackets for decades.

Something besides white dress shirt might be cool...like a black one or other colored dress shirt that you like, blue pin-striped, whatever.

Might depend on what type dancing is popular there, too. Some people go in for retro 40's dance, which might affect the style a bit, but for a guy, you probably don't want to dress too retro, even if the lady wears a retro dress. The pin-striped shirt, blue or tan or gray stripes, might be cool if the lady is wearing a retro dress. I like a pin-striped shirt that just has a white band instead of a collar, but that's because I have a green & white ladies' one that I like. For a lady, though, that would be way too stuffy & office-like for dancing.

Still, I'm guessing that none of us know what you should wear. Check with the club & with your date.

Don't wear some awful amount of cologne or after-shave that makes you just too over-whelming for close dancing. A light touch there is best. A little bit goes a long way. You would probably say the same for your dates, too.

    Haha how old are you?

You should wear the jeans that look worn out, dress shirt, suit coat, and some matching shoes. Do not wear the tie.

If you know the name of the club you could look up their dress code, or take a look on what others wear, in my opinion a casual look would be appropriate.

Dress pants and a shirt is the best choice.

Hey! Relax. Slow down there. Dress in your favorite style. Who cares if someone laughs at you. If you like that shirt, defend yourself. Laugh with them and say "right back at ya." Friends will accept you for your real you. Clothes tell your style, NOT your personalitiy!
