Is Israel a legit state/nation or not ?

The fact Syria teaches school children there is no Israel by erasing Israel off their maps doesn't change the fact that this none country kicked their rear ends in 1947 and in 1967 and in 1973, this none existent country with their none existent planes just blew up their Atomic plant.

I'm not against the fact that you are against Hamas -- You are free to decide what you do and do not support, no one can or has the right to force any opinion on you (they can gradually manipulate you/me/everyone to believe certain things though). What makes your Syrian girl´s statement especially amusing is that Syria was created ALSO by the decision of the UN,only two years prior to the creation of Israel.

Israel is a "legitimate" state only in the fact that it is recognized by most of the world as such.

But, like the United States, it was created by the subjugation, displacement and murder of its previous inhabitants. Perhaps this is why the U.S. is Israel's only unilateral supporter.

Israel my be a technically "legitimate" nation, but it's a morally and ethically incorrect one.

It depends on who you ask. Most agree it is. Israel's borders have expanded as well. Interestingly, enough. I believe some of it is.

Regardless, Israel is here now and that cannot and will not be changed. Everyone, including Israel, will have to adapt - and that could mean giving land to the Palestinians, etc.

Are you not hurting that answer's sentiments? If they support Hamas, then so be it. I hardly think you are being "civil and polite" to people's sentiments when you ask one to blow themselves up for supporting a certain group.

No. They have long since disavowed the borders they accepted in 1947. They also have a very long,ugly and ongoing history of human-rights abuses. To put it mildly.

How do you measure the legitimacy of a state? I'd say it should have something to do with it's humanity, the way it treats all of the citizens that it exercises power over and how that state relates to other nations and international institutions.

By all these measures Israel is an abject failure. It doesn't just treat Palestinians like second class citizens, it murders them - men, women and children. Israel repeatedly ignores United Nations resolutions passed to curb it's revolting behavior and it has protected it's military commanders from war crimes charges (and will probably be doing so again very soon).

Israel is as 'legit' as Nazi Germany and has a similar moral outlook.

Oh, you may not like Hamas but they were democratically elected and very soon President Obama will be recognizing them as a legitimate political voice for the Palestinians.

like what? the previous leader of Israel(who died of a heart attack i think and was in coma i don't remember) persude a group of refugees all the way to lebobanon and massacred 2 refuggee camps in lebonon. reason? they were terrorists. did they find even a single wepon? no just women and children.

there are other examples suchs cluster bombing(mine stuffed inside of toys), a sniper downed 4 kids playing by the beach with their kites because they were 1km away from a settlement in side the area. ages 4-10

No. Officially it has maintained it's legal stature but the UN violated it's own charter in recognizing it. It violated the right of all people to self-determination. The Palestinians were simply told they were losing their country.

Well Syria banned teaching Hebrew and Yeshiva schools way before Israel was ever created. Syria was against a Palestinian state before Israel was created. King Faisal and the Hashemites of transjordan believed the people of western Palestine should be under their rule.
