My Dell computer isn't working :(?

Everytime i try to turn it on, it starts normally, but then it goes to a blue screen, it isn't blank though, it has insrtuctions on it, it tells me to restart the computer and go to save mode. i tried all og the safe modes but they didn't work. This happened to my computer before, and the way i fixed it was to remove all the memory from it. Does anyone know how to do that?

It has nothing to do with it being a Dell. This is a Microsoft Windows problem and happens to every Windows machine at some point. Something is corrupt in Windows. Sometimes a cold boot fixes it, sometimes Windows must be repaired or reinstalled, sometimes a defective piece of hardware must be removed... there are many, many causes to a blue screen.

The most common is when it was shut down improperly. Shut it down (pull the power cord if necessary), wait 30 seconds. Plug it back in and try to restart it.

There isn't any more help anyone can give you with the vague information provided. There are also error codes on that screen. What are they?

If you got warranty, phone Dell

On a dell thats usually bad memory, take it down to 1 stick and boot the sticks in turn to identify a bad one.

If its got 4 slots the memory will usually be one stick in slot one, none in the next slot (slot 3), 1 in the next slot (Slot 2) and none in the last slot (Slot 4)

Sometimes Dell's get and obscure power supply fault because slots 1 and 3 are supplied of a different PSU rail than slots 2 and 4 (so dell told me anyway). Putting the Ram is slots 1 & 3 (1st pair) or 2 & 4 (2nd pair) can clear this.

It could also be a mobo or processor fault, much less likely, or an OS fault, also uncommon.

I've heard of this happening before due to faulty memory. Go to Dell's website and find out which slot is slot 1. Look for the link to a manual. Then, turn off and unplug your computer, then remove all memory except for slot 1. Restart and see if your computer works now. If it does, power down and unplug, remove that memory card and try another, same process, until you've tried them all. You should be able to find out if one of your memory cards is bad.

Here's a link to YouTube that has videos that show you how to install memory.

Dell's aren't that bad. I'm not entirely sure if reseating the memory is going to fix your problem. It sounds like windows has been corrupted which maybe a little complicated to fix if you haven't dealt with it before. Give dell a call or find someone who knows computers to take a look at your machine. Good luck!

As previously mentioned if its a desktop you have to open us the case and you can take out the memory, if its a laptop you have to unscrew the memory door. Once you see the memory there are tabs on either side of the memory module that you will need to press away from the memory module < > to pop the module out. From there its a matter of reseating the module(s). Make sure when you reinsert the module(s) that you put them in straight and flush.

Dell is not that bad of a computer, do need more info thou. When you see the blue screen (commonly called the blue screen of death) there should be an error code that looks something like this.

    error 00000000(0000) stop

look for a bunch of numbers need that to help you out.
