why, if you reject other god/s, is it so difficult to accept the non-existence of one more?
I suspect I may get some scripture thrown at me
praxn: I see that as rejecting all other gods
OK, so not rejection, just "failure to recognise the existence of"

Especially when the god most people worship is hardly the most rational one out there. At least I respect the deists and the pantheists for not selecting a god who's attributed with massacring innocents, condoning rape, and providing a legal framework for slavery. How anyone can worship the Abrahamic god is beyond me.

A belief in God is called faith, and is the core of religion. The creator you believe in depends on many things: in my case a long and searching journey.

I believe there is God, who created this world and us, and then I believe there are a great many unhappy spirits, (the 1/3 of the host of heaven who were cast down with Lucifer) who would like us to think THEY are gods.
I don't reject other beings as existing, I just reject them as "my" God.

W don't ''reject'' other god/s. We just believe in one God. That's just it.
Rejection is not the word, here.

Well, when you tell a child a lie, and imply horrible, unearthly punishment if the child should even think you lied to him, realization and even reason are squashed. The kid can't think reasonably, because he's been forced to believe the unbelievable and threatened with horrendous pain if he should merely doubt. It's no wonder they can't see clearly.
