Why is Jimmy Crack Corn a children's song when it's morbid and has connotations of slavery?

It's an old minstrel song with a catchy tune. Just to let you know there are some down right shady songs that pass themselves off as children's songs. Big Rock Candy Mountain is one and believe it or not What do you do with a Drunken Sailor? Many Mother Goose rhymes started off as political satires set to a tune or recited in a sing song. People have forgotten their origin. Interestingly enough , back in the day, the author may have been put to death , if caught.

In Little Red Riding Hood, she and her grandma get eaten by a wild animal - the story is to teach children not to talk to strangers. They can learn a lesson from these stories and songs.

Anyway, why should we hide children from the truth of death?

it only has a connotation of slavery because thats what you read into it. And besides, if Jimmy cracked corn and no one cared, why did they write a song about it ?

i think that the songwriter exchange into somewhat pleased with the actuality; as maximum persons could care if Jimmy cracked corn... because it must be somewhat messy... or in step with possibility the corn exchange into mandatory for dinner.
