Should I get this as my first car?
I'm almost 17 and have had my license for months and still don't have a car. My dad's friend asked if I was interested in his 1999 Saab 9-5 station wagon, he said it's mine for $3000. At first I thought no way, it's a station wagon, how lame. But after seeing it and driving it, it seems really reliable and comfortable. It's black, has new tires, about 94,000 miles, and everything is in working order. My parents said it's up to me if I want it or keep looking for some other car. Do you think it's worth it or should I keep looking?

The thing about Saab's or Audi and other similar type foreign cars is, when you have to work on them the parts cost a fortune. And don't think you won't have to buy parts sometime.Other than that they're pretty reliable. When I buy a car that's that old I try to stick with something a little more common, so the parts aren't so much.My daughter bought a Subaru and the starter alone was over $100.

I think if it's a 1999 stain wagon I wouldn't keep it now say if it was a 2001 car i would keep it the older the car the car will brake down quick i would get a car that is nice and good on gas!! well that's my opinion for your question
Source(s): dealer ship at least a $5,000 car that is nice and that works for u !!! - mccoybluesLv 71 decade ago
I don't think he's doing you any great favors with the price but the car should be a fine first car for you.
You'll be surprised how much you will love a wagon once you have it for awhile. Drives like a sports car and can haul like an SUV.

Saabs are good reliable safe cars. If it has been well maintained, and you also do the maintenance, you can easily get another 100,000 miles out of it...
If it breaks they are expensive to repair......
Still it's a good buy for 3000.00

you need to get a cheap ugly car as your first cause your going to end up wrecking it. i'm not trying to be morbid but seriously something like 1 out of every 4 people get in a bad accident their first year of driving so if your going to total a car it should be a POS. plus you will appriciate having a nice car and enjoy it more if your first car is a POS.

when in doubt don't. If you do get it you could customize and make it your dream car. It would be comfortable with lots of room.

i would get it. it's your 1st car, it's better to pick reliable and comfortable over something strictly for style. you won't have it forever. i'd get it.
