What do you think of the explanation given for the following question?

Why did God not destroy Adam and Eve and start over with another human pair? Because God’s universal sovereignty, that is, his right to rule, had been challenged. The question was, Who has the right to rule, and whose rule is right? By extension, Could humans do better if not ruled by God? In allowing them enough time to experiment with total freedom, God would establish once and for all whether they are better off under his rule or their own. The time allowed had to be long enough for humans to try all types of political, social, economic, and religious systems apart from God’s guidance.

What has been the result? Thousands of years of human history tell us that there has been more and more suffering. In the past century, the human family has experienced the worst suffering ever. Millions were murdered during the Holocaust. Over 100 million have been slaughtered in wars. Crime and violence are rampant. Drug abuse is epidemic. Sexually transmitted diseases continue to spread. Tens of millions die each year of hunger and disease. Family life and moral values have broken down everywhere. No human government has the answers to these problems. Not one of them has overcome aging, sickness, and death.

The human condition is just as the Bible foretold for our times. God’s Word identifies our era as “the last days” of this system of things when “critical times hard to deal with will be here.” And just as the Bible said, ‘wicked men and impostors have advanced from bad to worse.’—2 Timothy 3:1-5, 13.

Update:

jomomma ? Can you deny that the facts given in the explanation match the conditions we are experiencing today ?

Why would God destroy Adam and Eve for disobedience and hit the restart button? It would be an endless cycle. God has given man the freedom to exercise his own will, within restraints of course. One of those is our time on earth which is very limited due to the evil we're capable of doing. That time restraint also limits our suffering. It also beats down a bit of the arrogance in man that rises when there is no struggle. That suffering serves as a reminder of our sin. You do realize we have the power to limit and even wipe-out our suffering? If ALL men repented and submitted to the Lord we could live in utopia. But, being man and full of pride that will never happen. Therefore we'll continue on the current path and each one of us will have to make a decision to serve God or fulfill our own sinful desires.

    As far as this statement:

<< The time allowed had to be long enough for humans to try all types of political, social, economic, and religious systems apart from God’s guidance >>

What exactly do you think is going on now? You must expand your view to include past, present and future. About 4000 years. Remember, there is nothing new under the sun. All that you see today is a rehash of previous systems of man with the exception of a new name. Guess what? All have failed miserably under the control of man. History has shown that suffering always exists when man rules another man regardless of what system is run.

Nobody took notes. And note that the "72 words refers" to one particular translation of the Bible made over 400 years ago (with much reference to versions from nearly 500 years ago). The many modern translations of the last 60 years or so would have different numbers of words, and more "today-sounding" language. Contrary to what some people think, the Bible was not originally written in English, nor did anybody speak in English 2000 years ago. The English language began to develop around 1400 years ago, and did not reach anything like its modern form until about 400 years ago - but even that form presents difficulties to modern speakers, as anybody who has studied Shakespeare knows.

God, being omnipotent, already knew that Adam and Eve would eat the fruit after the talking snake told them to do it, yet he did nothing to change it.

And instead of snapping his fingers and making sin disappear, or not creating it in the first place (since he hates it so much), he creates a magical tree whose fruit has the power to give knowledge of good and evil to whomever eats it. He then places this tree in the center of the garden in which Adam and Eve are living with no walls or invisible force-fields in place to stop them from having access to it.

Suddenly, big surprise, they eat the fruit... and now god is angry that they did the very thing he knew they would, and set them up to do.

So, instead of wiping their memories or starting over again with new people, he figures the best solution is to kick them out of the garden and punish not only Adam and Eve, but every single member of humanity AND every other living creature on the planet by having them all grow old and die.

Your religion is patently retarded. You should be embarrassed to believe such absurd trash.

more people died of the flu than the holocaust - (not intended to take away the great and terrible pain the holocaust caused, just another piece of info.)

the things that resonate from the stories in the bible do so because humans have not moved on at all in the last few thousand years - or ever.

destroying A & E would have ruin the whole point of this!

Perhaps the disobedience was part of God's plan. At any rate the first eleven chapters of Genesis ore clearly a half dozen or so ancient Hebrew myths tacked on to the Saga of the patriarchs and do not merit as much attention as has been traditionally payed them.

The bible is disproven. There was no Adam and Eve. So the question is moot. Time to move on to something that actually matters.

Romans 5:17 For if, because of one man's trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.

  • God has mercy greater than any human understanding. He is a loving God. He created Adam And Eve for his pleasure so why would he destroy them? He loves us no matter how great our sin. He did not want to destroy what he loves most. Would a mother kill her son for disobeying one of her rules? No. God has a great love, don't question it. Never question God. He loves us, just embrace it

More and more human suffering? How'd you like to live 2,000 years ago before they even knew what bacteria was?

Don't give me your fairy tale explanations. It's only getting better as time goes on. The next step is to ditch these caveman superstitions.

Source(s): Remember, "god" is nothing more than a nonsense word created by man to explain away all of the things we can't yet understand. Religion is a disease of the mind, born of fear, which has done nothing but bring untold misery down upon the human race.

So this is all just a game with god? And human beings are pawns so that god can prove to himself how powerful he is?
