washing machine repair?
I have an Amana washer Md# lwd70aw or plwd70aw yr. 97. I know it's old but it has a stainless tub and would like to repair it, to replace it $$$$. My question is, how do you remove the agitator, it's one piece and there is nothing down inside the agitator that holds it. How do I get it out? What's the trick

You will probably have to open up a side or rear panel so you can see the tub. There may be a nut or set of screws on the underside of the tub that is holding the agitator in place. Or if you can raise the washer up enough, you can possibly look under it if there is no bottom panel. It is possible that you may have to remove the tub from the washer structure to see the bottom where the agitator is attached depending on the design of the machine. My best advice is to get a good look inside the machine.
Hope this helps!

There is a spline or coupler that is holding it down in the bottom, it fits tightly to the top of the transmission. You need an agitamer sold at most appliance parts stores to get it off.
