How hard would it be to learn Spanish One on my own?

In 7th and 8th grade, I took French One with straight A's. In 9th grade, I am currently taking French Two and am getting an A with no problem. I have already read to the end of this book and plan to take French Three next year and get an A. My teacher told me that she would recommend me to start another language, but thinks that I should do Spanish One by myself over the summer and start out with Spanish Two. I see no problem with this, as I am very good at languages, but how hard would it be to complete the Spanish One book on my own?

You could learn to write, but not to pronounce. You need to hear someone speak Spanish and learn the accent.

It just depends on how much you know. Spanish 1 isn't hard if you are familiar with it at all and it is definitely not hard when taken in the class. The first part is vocab and greetings, definite articles that mean the( like El,La, Los, Las), indefinite articles that mean a or some( like Uno, una, unas, unos), descriptions and agreement (the red ball= la pelota roja), feminine nouns and adjectives vs. masculine nouns and adjectives, numbers, ser vs. estar which means'' to be''.It can be either difficult or easy depending on your learning style. If i were you i'd rather take that spanish 1 class in a community college 6 week summer session than do it on my own though because Spanish 2 gets harder(much harder) and if you don't understand the basics than you are screwed....

Seriously think about a spanish summer community college class. Also if you do online, studyspanish.com is a really good site.

French and Spanish are similar in some aspects so it won't be too hard and I think french is harder, but you don't want to jump into Spanish 2 without properly understanding Spanish 1.

It can't be classified as "easy" or "hard"... learning Spanish is like anything in life... you have to enjoy the sights along the way, and enjoy the journey :) Some resources I recommend looking into: -Go to your local library and get the Pimsleur language CDs (Spanish I, II, and III). Do one CD per day (About an hour). This will teach you almost perfect pronunciation. -Then, do the FSI Spanish Course. You should have excellent pronunciation by now, and have a good grasp of grammar. Have a good Spanish-to-English dictionary handy. -Now, watch the educational TV series "Destinos" -- This will teach you to hear and comprehend spoken Spanish by the time you are done. -By now, you should be ready to start watching regular TV shows in Spanish and reading newspapers with little problem. Buy a good Spanish-to-Spanish dictionary, and download a memorization program like Supermemo or Mnemosyne to help you memorize new phrases and vocabulary. -Start speaking to natives all you can! Best of luck! God bless

Simple enough. French and spanish go hand in hand. The best idea is to get a spanish pen pal to help you with grammar and use. I can be a pan pal or can recommend a few native speakers that can help if you would like. Go to my profile and email me or email me at jakeb101291@hotmail.com.

I'm sure you can do it. :D

Especially since you are so good at French, and know so much. The Romance Languages are very similar.

I'm attempting to teach myself German within four years. xP

www.livemocha.com is a good website, and www.sharedtalk.com is a good website to practice with. They're both free and made by Rosetta Stone.

    Good luck!
