I have never even HEARD of peacock feathers being bad luck!! I have nO idea where anyone would get this, as they are beautiful and graceful creatures . I have one, his name is TINY and he's a hoot! He spreads his tailfeathers everyday for me as a sign of "FEED ME NOWWWW!" . ITs fantastic, as I have vision problems, and he will eat out of a pan in my hand. I adore him. And every fall when he sheds his tail feathers for the winter, I collect huge jars of them.
IF you would be interested in getting some of these from me, leave me your email address here and I'll get in touch with you.
I went to bed after initially answering your question and woke up with a possible answer. I remember from a time when I had to read a lot of the greek mythologies for a high school lit class that at one point, one of the major goddesses used a peacock as a spy and 'implanted' a hundred ( or a thousand? ) eyes in its tail to help it to 'see all ' for her and report back. This visable 'eye' in a peacock's tail feather Could possibly be why some people believe them to be bad luck...........I mean, c'mon, what the bird reported back to the goddess got people in trouble, right? LOL
But, if you are a woman who is strong in what you believe and don't put any credance in the silly superstitions of mankind, then what would be the problem?
Peacock feathers are GORGEOUS and would make a LOVELY addition to any centerpiece. Don't let some old wives' tale keep you from a lovely wedding.

Hmm, if you really believe in bad luck, then you'll also want to ban your guests from wearing green; a task you'd be unlikely to pull off. Green is supposed to be bad luck if worn at a wedding.
I'm not superstitious, so I would have peacock feathers if you want them. They are supposed to be bad luck, yes, but I don't know why.
We've had peacock feathers in our house for the last 20 years at least, and I am walking proof that they're not always as they seem. We've had quite GOOD luck as a family.

never heard that peacock feathers are bad luck! Seems like the majority of folks who has answered your question say the same thing! Plus someone is very generous to offer you some if you need it! I'll say go for it! Now if that doesn't scream goodluck I don't know what will!!! lol

I didn't know they were bad luck. I used to have a peacock feather on my wall years ago, and I think that was the happiest time in my life :-) I'd say they were good luck if anything!

there is truly no such thing as luck. you plan something as best you can for it to go as smoothly as possible, or it depends on chance. Other times, you are just at the wrong place at the wrong time. As for objects bringing bad luck, i cannot believe that people actually believe this. I say get peacock feather and get plenty of em! they are beautiful and i am actually gonna have my bridesmaids wear them in their hair!

YES!!! My family has only one superstition and it goes like this, "Everyone I've ever known who brought peacock feathers into their home died of cancer within a year." Sounds batty right? It's totally true... And yes I understand that correlation isn't necessarily causation (just because circumstances have one similar factor it doesn't mean that that's what caused the circumstance) but we're batting 10 for 0. My uncle developed throat cancer a month after they brought the feathers into their home. I threw them away when they weren't looking but it was too late... He died a year later. They're exceptionally bad luck for weddings. The "eyes" represent the evil eye. It's nuts but you'll never catch me with them anywhere near me... ahahahahaha.. Much light!

I've never heard that. I got flowers from my boss last year with peacock feathers in it. I don't think he would wish me bad luck because I'm his only assistant!

Feng Shui
In this belief, certain objects had bad karma/vibes such as shells, conch shells, feathers and other items that are dead animal's sub products are said to be bad luck because they represent the death of a living creature.
Other folks, may consider feathers (and other animal products) unethical because they breed these animal in poor conditions, are typically abused and mangled to obtain such feathers.
Good luck
