Yes you can. The issue you may have will be that if you have both ipods set to auto sync then the itunes library will try to download to both ipods.
I would suggest that you disable auto sync for the second ipod and use the manual mange mode so you can simple drag and drop the file you want to the ipod. It wont matter what the ipod the library looks like or what songs are in in if you don't drag it to the ipod it wont go on it.

yes, you can have two ipods on itunes. itunes doesn't always have to have just one ipod connected to it. if you want, you can make separate playlists for each ipod and just drag and drop each of the songs from the library to the playlist that needs the songs from the library...
i hope i made sense. sorry, i was typing all of this pretty fast lol

lol. I have 4 iPods on one computer. They all work fine (and one of them isn't even mine!). You can make a play list, and add specific songs you want for one particular iPod. When you're syncing your iPod just go to the settings and change the "add all songs and play list" to "add play list". yeah... ^__^

Make a 2 playlists one for you and one for the other and when you sync go to your ipod's page and go to music on top and then you'll see your playlist then click it :0

in case you have distinctive debts on your laptop, that could desire to do the trick. in case you have a separate account on your laptop than your father, then iTunes is able to distinguishing your song from his. as nicely, each and each iPod has its very own serial quantity, so whilst your iPod is hooked as much as the laptop, it communicates this quantity on your laptop--this tells the laptop one iPod from yet another, and as a result the songs on the iPod(s) isn't altered, provided it extremely is the comparable laptop the iPod has been making use of (till the iPod is desperate to "manually handle song", wherein case the songs isn't altered regardless of what laptop the iPod is hooked as much as.)
