My guinea pig just died, but I have another living guinea pig. Should I get him a friend?

Yes, your guinea pig needs a friend. Guinea pigs are highly social, and without a friend, they will literally refuse to eat and starve themselves to death. You sound like you know about the introduction process. I recommend you go to a shelter and bring your guinea pig to meet which guinea pig he likes the most.

Well maybe yes because he/she was brought up with one and with out it's friend that it grew up with it might feel lost. But you must read up about intro ducting a new one, and give them both the same attention or it will get jealous of each other. If it is a female get another female they live happily together. If it is a male don't get another boy or they will fight, and if you don't want little ones then get them done.

i had 2 gunipigs and when one died the other was lonely for a few weeks after but after that he was fine, he lasted a good 2 years on after the first one died :)

Wow Unlucky! My sister bought 3 gerbils, one popped its clogs and they are fine, As well my mum got 3 chickens one popped its clogs so, Maybe get 2 or 3 more so if one dies, you still have 1 or 2 left!
