Which versions of these movies did you like better?

Cape Fear, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Fly, & The Blob.

Update:

The first few people didn't understand the question- It wasn't what movie did you like best, but what version of this movie - the original or the remake did you like best.

Update 2:

I think I'll let the 'public' decide this one. I liked the remake of the Fly & the Body Snatchers best. I've always loved Robert Mitchum. and the blob was a cheesy movie in both versions.

Let's see... the ONLY one of those movies I've seen was "Invasion of the Body Snatchers," and only because my sister was a rabid fan of Kevin McCarthy. I did not see the remake of it to compare, so I cannot make an evaluation as to which version of "Body Snatchers" was better.

Oh... and I saw only bits and pieces of "The Fly," and again, ONLY because my sister was a rabid David Hedison fan, too!

    Have a Seasoned day.

I liked the original versions of Cape Fear and The Fly but have not seen the remake of The Blob or Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Horror films today are all about blood and gore and no class.

I liked both versions of the body snatchers but prefer the original The Fly, Cape Fear and the Blob.

I've seen both versions of all the sci-fi films you've mentioned. My husband is a sci-fi nut. He likes the older versions better. We own The Blob and Invasion of the Body Snatchers. I guess we get a kick out of how the 50's American culture in those movies. Everything from mode of dress to slang.

He also likes both versions of War of the Worlds. Here's an exception. We like both versions but prefer the newer one. We are anxious to find out what the new versions of The Day the Earth Stood Still will be like.

Frankly, I love that robot. Is he gonna have a second coming? We'll see.

As for Cape Fear. Again, I like the old one best. I think I've seen the newer one but I can't remember who was in it. And then there's that new remake of The Women. Frankly, it's a dud. The charm of the older version is missing.

Cape Fear, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Fly, & The Blob

I preferred the originals simply because I was younger and more impressionable. I was 5 when I saw "The Blob" and it terrified me. The remake was OK but, to this day, seeing the cheesy original still evokes the fight or flight response!

The fear-factor had been mitigated by the time the remakes were done and had simply lost their emotional power.

This doesn't make the remakes better or worse but my response differed greatly

didnt like cape fear in either version, the invasion of the body snatchers the original black and white was by far the best, i quite liked both versions of the fly, i think this is one occasion where they did not cock a remake up, and the blob, definitely the original one, i have both versions on video and the first one was better

Cape Fear - Both were good, but I liked the original one.

Invasion of The Body Snatchers - I only remember the original.

    The Fly - The remake.

The Blob - Again, I only saw the older version.

The originals on the first three. I didn't see the remake of The Blob. I saw Body Snatchers when I was twelve and I couldn't sleep for a week! After seeing The Fly my brothers went around saying "help me, help me" for months in that little fly voice.

The only one where I actually saw both the original and the remake was Cape Fear. I preferred the one with Robert Mitchum and Gregory Peck (the original) because Robert Mitchum was just so perfect as a scary man (just look at him)! However, the remake was pretty good but just not as good without Robert Mitchum.
