To ALL ANime hardcore fans..?

1- whats an idx file??

Since i know about sub file.. which i can add to an existing anime to see the subs in english.. and i see idx file in all dual audio anime..

wu it mean tht if i add idx file to my existing anime movie wl i be able to hear in english??

cause i have many anime's.. i wud like to hear em in english and i dont want to download em all over again..

2- whats an interlace?? i mean most of the anime forums have some ppl working something on anime - process half- process completed etc etc.. what r they doing?? are they converting the video file into another format like ogg or mkv?? something like what i use to convert video files to avi etc etc.. i dont know what its called.. but usually we see.. that they most , so and so group or moderator is doing some work on some anime's.. i dont think they mean he is drawing the anime!!?? as in sketching??!!

3- whats a fan subbed?? is it a website name?? and related to this.. what does licensing mean??

i mean they say stop distributing anime after its been licensed.. but before its licensed ppl download and see.. and pretty much where i live theres no tv channel that shows anime.. i have to download anime.. so basically i love anime but i dont want animes to be licensed.. as i wont be able to see em otherwise..

He has sored the anime list.. and has put small info with screen shots about each anime.. so its pretty neat..

if any one knows any other sites from where we can read review or see screen shot and ALSO DOWNLOAD.. plz do tell.. so far i been downloading thru torrents.. that to without any prior knowledge of how that anime wud be..

almost all that i downloaded were very nice.. except for black bible.. which i cudnt see any more thn 15 min.. and started puking!!

    bloody hell thats a lot of questions....

    i can answer some of them

    IDX file i have no clue i have never seen one because i primarily BUY my anime on dvd...

    however as an amv creator i can answer several of your other qq's

    interlacing is a function of how your tv screen displays video it takes 2 passes to display any given image it draws every other line then goes gack and fills in the ones it didnt display the first time then moves to the next frame and draws every other line then switches it does this continually... you really dont need to know about this unless you are going to get into video editing. at which point you want to go to Animemusicvideos.org and look for readfag under the guides section (yes its really called readfag) it is very informative

    next fansubs are basically somone captured the anime somehow either off tv or ripped a japanese dvd then they added a translation layer to the image with subtitles. it would be a FAN that did this and not a lisenced studio hence fansub (fan subtitling)

    a lisence is where for example an american company goes to the japanese company that has legal rights to the anime and says i would like to translate this to english and release it for sale in america. the japanese company says ok you can dub to english and sell this for 10 years or so whatever the agreed upon time is. the japanese co gets huge ammounts of money and the american co is allowed to sell it legally in america and make money off of it.

    basically anime that is aired in japan and is not lisenced can be distributed until somone buys the legal rights to that anime (basically they control it for the contract period) lisencing is good because it usually means an anime will be dubbed and released on DVD.

    I don't know what an interlace or that file is but a fan sub is an anime that was unprofessionally subbed. Like if you, as a fan, went and did sub titles for an anime episode. I think what you do is down load a raw (no subs) episode of an anime and then you can put subs on it (though I don't know how to do that).
