We are no longer citizens we are now subjects, We bow to state Federal and City laws. how much tax's we pay are dictated to us.You are now concerted guilty till proved Innocent.
mandatory laws are passed and you must abide, like mandatory insurance,, filing tax's, and the list go on.
What's bad about it You can't do anything about it, so just suck it up and go with the flow

Yes, and isn't it strange? Excessive government has never worked anywhere else in the world. Why would our fellow citizens think it is the answer to anything here in the United States? Our country was founded by people who believed in the freedom of individuals to use their labor and talents to advance themselves and provide for their families. It worked for the better part of 200 years, then some people discovered they could gain power by fomenting discontent and pitting groups of Americans against each other. It seems like a dangerous way to go forward.

We've been a partial Socialist country for a very long time, with public schools, roads, police and fire protection, etc. the question we all need to ask is, when do we say ENOUGH.
The US Constitution is very clear about the rights given to the federal government and what is not expressly given to them is not theirs, period.
I think we should be very concerned about what is going on. The more power we give the government the more power they will take until we wake up one day and wonder how in the world we lost our freedoms.
Too many of us look at what is happening with bailouts and government controls, and government taking over businesses and think, well it's for our own good. But, unless we get involved, before we know it the government will know what's best for us to read, watch on tv, make a living, etc.
I don't want to be a pessimist, but I do NOT like what is happening with the government. I know what is best for me and my family, and my money, and my entertainment, and my medical care, etc. I don't need nor want someone who doesn't give a rats *** about me taking away my rights to make my own choices.
Geez, guess I got a little carried away, huh? sorry. I'll shut up now.

It seems to me more like we taxpayers have bought our way into some of these businesses; the government didn't just take over businesses, we traded loans and 'life line' grants for shares in the companies.
I don't know if trading funds for shares is socialistic or not. I do believe that there are no perfect answers and few decent choices right now.

Something strange is going on but it isn't socialism.
Maybe it is facistism.
My husband grew up in a socialist country and at least in a true socialist society, there are jobs for everyone and seniors are well taken care of.

The businesses being taken over would no longer be in businesses if the Government didn't take them over - so whats the big deal.

No....just the opposite.
We're becoming a Country where everyone... businesses included have to answer to someone.....they can't just do whatever the heck they want.
Checks and Balances....that's what this Country was built on

We're becoming a socialists country when businesses think they can do what they want, - since there'll be a "safety net".
Maybe the CEO's should be taken out and have to run naked thru the streets for their mis-management.
From the 1970's with the Big 3 making big cars, I thought they'd never be "out of touch" with the American consumer again.
The welfare mentality states "everything will be OK". NO, - NOT EVERYTHING WILL BE OK!!

It used to be that businesses that did poorly and lost money, were either bought out by others, failed and closed or filed bankruptcy. Now they are asking the govt to bail them out using taxpayers money. The govt control is part of the bargain that they are making.
