The transition to the new Yahoo! Profiles is now taking place on Answers for more info see the yahoo blog below:

While the transition is in progress some disruption of yahoo avatars can be expected, from now on, instead of importing your image display from Yahoo! 360, Answers will use the photo/ image from your profile on Yahoo.

Its the Yahoo gremlins at work! The same ones that kill the spell check every now and then! My pix is on my profile but today has disappeared from the answers. Go figure.
