Has anyone been forced to celebrate their birthday away from home?

My 23rd birthday is tomorrow; April 1 and not only will I not celebrate my birthday with my family this week, but I will miss my Grandma's birthday too. I wanted to be there to celebrate it with her; I feel so sad that I want to cry.

This might make you feel better. This past June 2008 I had my 40th Birthday. We got a phone call early that morning, actually we was still sleeping when the call came in that his father had died. So we went on a plane to be with the family and my birthday didn't phase me at all. The good in it all was when we returned my daughter had a little surprise party with a couple of good friends, it was alright after all. Good luck

Why are you being Forced to celebrate your Bday away? If your job calls you away, just be thankful you have one. Put a call into your grandmother and explain why you can't be with her.. Possibly send her flowers. Celebrate when you all can be together. After-all it's not the date that's important at 23, it's the family being together. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!
