Why do all the hateful answers come out when religion or God is mentioned?

When ever a person asks even a simple question about God, or different religions, I see an overwhelming amount of hateful responses. Does anyone else find it sad? Is it horrid proof that our society is largely made up of, people who show a complete lack of faith and the evil that is becoming ever so evident.

If you think R&S is bad you should go check out Government&Politics. R&S is actually quite tame. Even when we're taking jabs at one another, I don't think it's being particularly hateful. The subject of religion naturally involves a lot of heated debate and unfortunately immaturity as well.

What is good and evil, really? Isn't it just morality? And morality is a matter of opinion. Is it right or wrong to eat beef? In the U.S. It is one of the biggest sellers. But in some countries it is sinful and forbidden. I know a lot of christian denominations that forbid women to wear mens clothing and men not to wear womens clothing. So can a man wear a dress/skirt. Some Scottish men wear kilts that look an awful lot like american skirts. Are they wrong? NO!! morality is based on culture not your opinion. So therefore good/evil, moral/immoral, its just a matter of opinion.

People may be hurt or something happend to them before to denounce God. But they just don't know that it is not God's fault, he loves you. It is the people of the world that have done it. People have free will which is what Satan takes advantage of. We just gotta love the Hell out of them :)

    Unfortunately youre right

Personally, I think the upward swing in atheism is just a backlash against the middle east war. Atheism is spiking now as a trend

I don't see it though I do see people reminding others there is no god, I wouldn't call that hateful.

It is extremely presumptuous to tell people they are going to hell. The theists are sometimes more blasphemous to their god then atheists.
