Would you give it all up? Do you think I should give it all up?
I've spent 5 years studying art techniques at a well-known art academy. I'm in a special art programme at school where I learn art history and art techniques(for 2 years now). In total, I've had 7 years studying art and that's almost half my life. I can pretty much say I'm fairly good at art, since I do well in my art history exams and have my artworks displayed at the school gallery.
But this year, I discovered drama. I loved being onstage and rehearsals. This suddenly made me want to join my school's special drama programme and quit the art programme. But I'm hesitant. I love art and drama and its not easy to have both. I don't want to end up regretting givng up art for drama if I suddenly realise drama isn't for me. I'm fairly good at drama too but not as good as I am at art (yet, at least). I get main roles in skits now and then. No major roles in plays, though.
I just need some advice before I make a decision. My parents would rather I stick to the art programme because they think I only have a 0.7% chance of being an actress(because of my race)

I think you should do both. You are in school for art, so since you put so much time into it, you might as well finish it if you love what your doing, but you don't have to give up one or anorther.
Instead of doing something drastic like quitting your art classes and going full speed into drama, why not try taking small drama classes on the side (outside of school), get a feel for it. Try out improve, do small student projects such as short films, and keep going along with the theatre.
I am sure its hard to do both, but if you are passionate about both, then keep to it. Plus acting is something that you learn more about while doing it, not learning about it, its always good to have good acting classes behind you, but sometimes big schools aren't always the way to go.
You never now where life is going to take you, so keep your options open. I met an actor on a film last summer who was in school to be a Doctor, he was getting top grades and was a few years in when he discovered acting, fell in love with it, and left everything for it. Now he's working with acting coaches and is with a well known agency in Toronto.
And don't let your ethnicity get into the way, its not about that anyway, its about your Passion for what your doing. hope this helped and Good luck ;)

I'd stick with art, seeing as you have been doing it for so long. When you've finished the course, you could then choose to do a drama thing.
Because of your race? If by that you mean you're a minority ethnic group, there will be a demand for actresses in that area. There's loads of white actors to choose from.
