Why does beer come in six packs?
Why not 8 or 10? I could sure use another beer or two.

Let's see in the US they issue singles, double, 4-pack, 6-pack, 12-pack, 18-pack, 24-case, 30-pack, and 36-pack. The singles may be 12 ounce, 16 ounce, 24 ounce, 25 ounce, 32 ounce, 40 ounce, bottles/cans. The 6-packs may come in 12 ounce, and 16 ounce bottles/cans. Some beers (Little King Cram Ale) may come in 30-pack of 7 ounce bottles(is it 36?). Certain beers have 7-ounce cans. Did I miss anything?
And now you want an 8-pack? LOL
I understand your packaging sarcasm/curiosity though. Remember the classic 8-bun pack but the hot dogs are package by 10 count.
I do not know why beer comes in 6-packs but not 8 or 10. Perhaps it is a perfect 1/4 split of the classic case of 24. But then why not sell 3 8-packs? The world may never know.

its the shape and size that is convenient to carry. plus four six packs make a case. which is twenty four. the whole beverage industry works with dozens. switching to the metric system of five packs and ten packs would bankrupt the business. You can buy a five pack of beverage if you want. Just pop out one can and use that empty ring for a carry handle.

If a 6er isn't enough which in my world isn't buy yourself an additional deuce or 40.......(a deuce is 22 ounces so it's about the same as an additional 2 .

It's the standard system vs. the metric system. The metric system is far superior but none of us can figure out how to convert it, So we just keep going with the standard system even though it's harder. Go figure.

Convenience and easy to carry is mostly why. and if you really want to get drunk you have to buy more than one, it probably appeals to the guy who wants to drink alone mostly.
