Can you use pressure cooker as a tattoo autoclave sterilizer for medical disinfection purpose?

Show me proof if possible. What is highest temperature in pressure cooker and tattoo autoclave?

Update:

A lot of people said no, but please tell me why in a more specific way. (if possible)

Update 2:

Also, is it legit?

The answer is no because there is no drying cycle with those things like there is REAL autoclaves. I don't know a single regulatory agency that would accept them. They don't reliably reach 240 degrees - the VERY MINIMUM - at a constant temperature, either.

People have stated in Answers that you can time it until the packaging color indicator changes. This is wrong info, too. You can expose the package for a couple of minutes and the color will change. You can put the package in your car dashboard on a hot sunny day and the color will change. This is useless.

Home tattoo use? Give me a break. Unless the home studio is legal and licensed there is NO REASON to tattoo in someone's home. Friends deserve a professional environment just like anyone else. I fire any artists that are found to be tattooing outside the studio.

By the way, dry heat sterilizers have to be run for an hour. These are not condoned for use by regulatory agencies either.

A steam sterolizer is just a pressure canner. A pressure canner and pressure cooker operate the same way. That being said super heated boilg water still does not sterilize. You need full steam saturation. A pressure cooker will not give you this.

  • dont even bother trying it, how would you feel if you gave someone a disease just cause you wanted to save a few bucks. worst case, you can be sued for everything you have for that. and a different note, 230 degrees for 20 minutes?? i run my auto clave at 260 degrees for 45 minutes, i dont risk anything when it comes to being safe and clean. also, a pressure cooker isnt designed to sustain the higher pressures as an auto clave does and just isnt as effective. but still, it is better than nothing, if you are going to end up doing this, atleast double the time or cook them twice.

Why, sure, you can use them. My mentor, that apprenticed me for several years, said just use one at two hundred and thirty degrees, for twenty minutes in distilled water, with a stainless steel basket, and it does the same thing. They don't have stoves in clean rooms at tattoo shops. A pressure cooker is a stovetop item. A lot of certified tattooists, including me, are also set up at home, in case a friend wants a tattoo, and it's not illegal to do that once in a while, if it's not for money. I have a dry heat sterilizer at home. They are more practical anyway. Same two hundred thirty degrees, same twenty minutes. Your tips, tubes, and grips. One time use on needles, of course. No need to use them more than once, the run pennies apiece anyway. Barrier film, non porous floors and countertops. Gloves, and wipe the chairs down with lysol. Prevent cross contamination, and bloodbourne/airborne pathogens, same as at the shop. The reason pressure cookers are dangerous, is that if left unattended for whatever reason, they can blow the seal. An autoclave is built much stronger, and uses it's own heat. But 230 degrees is what temperature you use them. That's the law. Take care.

No way, don't cut corners when it comes to sterilization!

No! Thats not a way to sterilize anything!

  • they dont get to the level of temp needed and they are not reliable, nor do they sterilize the right way. good idea though, lol.

This is like the 4th time I've seen this question this week. Try using the search button - it works! The answer, obviously, is no. There is no way that crap would work. Whoever told you that is an idiot.
