my room smells 'doggy'.?
Ive got two dogs who sleep in my room in their own beds, but also sleep on my bed during the day when Im gone. Ive got a lot of things that absorb the odor-a down comfortor, a heavy duvet, a memory foam mattress topper. I wash them weekly with an odor fighting additive and they smell ok. But, besides changing the dogs bedding and my bedding and general cleaning, like vacuuming and dusting, what else can I do to make the room smell better? I dont like fabreeze fake spray scents, any other suggestions to get rid of the funk?
good answers so far, thanks! We are renting, so taking out the carpet is off the list. It is about time to have them cleaned and that may be contributing to it. I like the idea of a citrus candle and remembered I really like pink grapefruit candle scents and opening the window is a daily thing too. Im sure its the carpet--time to clean them and just do the maintenance. :P

For my family, with several cats, we have the window opened for about an hour a day...even in cold weather, just to get some good fresh air into the room. Best to do it just a few hours before you want to use the bedroom.
I also like to use a small citrus candle, which I burn only for a brief period of time when the window is closed...always at a time when there are no animals in the room though and the door is closed to prevent them from upsetting the candle.
Between the two of those things (window and candle) our room smells fresh and inviting and I sleep great!

Open the window for an hour or so and let in some fresh air.Sprinkle some baking soda in your carpet to get rid of stale odors,and vacuum.There are many nice smelling air fresheners now a days pick one you like and use it.

I suspect you have a fitted carpet in your room and this is the problem. Go for a hard wood floor (with some nice rugs and mats which can be washed as necessary) and you will get rid of your problem.
