What a great story, and a truly amazing dog, swimming 5 miles to start off with! (although I feel sorry for those baby goats *cries*) I can't imagine the joy the family, including Sophie, felt when they were reunited, After so much bad news all the time, it's great to read a story like this one. By the way, we had a cattle dog years back (r.i.p. sweet Tumbles, her urn is sitting in the living room) who looked just like her. They really are a very smart, determined breed of dog : )

My girl Nadine was an Australian cattle dog. We were best friends for over fifteen years. I used to say that if ever there were a nuclear holocaust, the only survivors would be the cockroaches, and Nadine eating the cockroaches. This story doesn't surprise me in the least... but it sure gives me the warm fuzzies.

Boy, I miss that ole *****!

I've been an animal lover since the day I was born. Its nice to see a "good" animal story as opposed to the horror stories you usually read about animals being mistreated

I read the whole story and it was heart warming to know this dog had a will to live. So glad she reunited with her family. Thanks for sharing a great human nature story.

Those dogs are tough as hell. My neighbor had one that was thought to be left in Montana and when they got the semi full of rodeo bulls back to Texas it was up in the front stomped half to death, it was working again within 3 weeks, very tough breed.

That's a really sweet story, it would be amazing if the dog could speak of it's adventure. I wonder if they fed her lamb chops to help her transition into domestic life again.

  • Great story - I am a dog lover and that brightened my day. I love happy endings.

Very nice - I have one of those survivor dogs myself. Survived from Jan. until July on his own.
