Is donating money to a rich Christian religious corporation really an act of charity?
Why do Christians give money to their church, especially when that church represents one of those stinking rich business/religions like the evangelical mega-churches, the televangelists with private jets or even the pseudo-Christians like the Mormons and JW’s who use the money they fleece from their flock of fools to buy multi-million dollar luxury residences, ghastly temples and shopping malls? And let’s not forget the Catholics with their stinking rich Vatican, the pope sitting atop his golden throne and his pope-mobile which cost more than the average house in western nations.
Is it really an act of charity to give money to people who you know aren’t using all the money or even most of the money for true charity? Is it really an act of charity when ones motive for giving money to their church is mainly to help it in its competition with other churches instead of helping the needy?

Um, I'm sorry, but aren't you the one who suggested people donate to scientists so we can "fly cars on Mars"?? Where is the charity in that?
Aside from the snide remarks made in your "question" even if the money were to be mismanaged, when I make a donation, of my own free will, in the hopes of helping others, it is, more or less, a Charitible act.

Define "true Charity". If it's simply something You feel is important, then chances what I give to isn't a Charity.

No, I wouldn't think it would be, if I was trying to help some silly competition. I am trying to help People, in general.
Please do grow up luv.

Is it really an act of Charity when you give money to flaming liberal, anti-god, pro-abortion, capital hating organizations???
Anytime you give money to anyone or any organization asking nothing in return it is charity.....even if people like you don't like that particular charity.
You hate religion...we get it. Your 1000 "questions" a day make that point very clear.

I used to donate to a charity for starving children in Africa run by my Catholic neighbors. They would go over there and work with the children themselves, so i figured it was a good cause. Then I came to find out they were using the money to buy bibles and rosaries for the children. Bibles and rosaries for children who can't eat! I'm sure that's going to help those kids a lot. I don't donate to religiously affiliated charities anymore.

Most Christians in my church will put there tithes in a missions folder, so to be sure there donations go to an actual charity.

The IRS says it is an act of charity and some people donate for the tax benefit. So yes it is according to the IRS.

speaking from a catholic point...i really don't understand the super big churches either.... but i don't mind donating to the local church whenever I do go (which I'm not proud to say but not often ;( )... I mean I understand that most priests don not have a set salary, and they only survive thanks to whatever donations people make, so they have to eat and stuff, also I dunno about other churches, but it can get pretty hot during summer months, therefore they have to get fans or be paying for high electricity bills do to air conditioning

People always need to check out a charity before they donate to it, religious or not.

Silly atheist. Christians give money to God through the church.
Christians have many thousands of charitable organizations and social ministries, unlike atheists. Atheism is a self serving and self centered religion, unlike Christianity.

nope, it's a contribution to capitalism. so those greedy religious fat cats can keep their lavish lifestyle. you can bet that any money that goes to those televangelists will never see the hands of anyone who really needs it, because the money is going to "god" or in other words, it's going to that new plasma screen tv that the good reverend has had his eye on for a while.

I think that the evangelistic people have taken advantage of the tithing that good people do. Another reason I am atheist.
