Why do human beings pay to live on the planet that they were born on?

How else do you suppose those humans obtain said land, food, and water? Someone has to build a house on that land, and process the materials to build that house, and someone has to grow the food, and someone has to clean the water - those are all jobs, so should we just have some people do those jobs, while everyone else gets to lay around all day and enjoy the fruits of that labor, knowing they didn't contribute to it in any way?

You don't have to. Buy your own little acre, drill your own well for water, grow and preserve your own food, bake your own bread, raise your own meat, make your own clothes, get a horse and buggy to get around in. Install a windmill for electricity, or chop wood for your fireplace... nobody HAS to pay to live on this planet, just most find it easier to have a job and pay for the things they need. And for heaven's sake, don't get sick and need a doctor.

No matter how you slice it, either way, you have to work to live.

Good question. I suppose if we moved to the mountains/jungle and lived in a cave or something, we wouldn't have to pay taxes, but we'd have to fend for ourselves.

Going to work to make money is just a sexed-up version of hunting and gathering, which is what our ancestors had to do to survive.

Because others can force you to.
