What are some good old films?
I'm looking for some good old films made around 1950s to 1960s. I liked arsenic and old lace as well as kind hearts and coronets and was going for movies like that.

Sorry, I don't know any from the '50s.... I know a few from the '60s, but they're not that good.
Two of my favorite movies are from the from the '70s, though:
American Graffiti (1973)
and The Man Would Be King (1975)
Both are fantastic. The first is a classic coming of age story that takes place during America's last age of innocence. The second is a world-winning adventure tale, with great performances from Sean Connery and Michael Caine .

The Sound of Music
My Fair Lady
Pollyana
Parent Trap
Mary Poppins
The trouble with Angels

I highly reccomend "Citizen Kane" which was made in 1941. It has actually not only one best picture that year, but has been claimed to be the best film in recorded history! I don't know about that, but I sure did like it quite a bit. Research it a bit, but beware of plot spoilers!!!
Others:
"Roman Holiday"
"My Fair Lady"
"The Sound of Music"
"The Parent Trap"
and anything Charlie Chaplin!

"What's new pussycat" was a classic comedy from the sixties. "the Errand Boy" starring Jerry Louis (has a famous scene in it). Barbara Streisand's "What's up Doc?". After watching films like that, you'll start to realize how much hollywood has truly plundered through the decades.

"The Asphalt Jungle" starring Sterling Hayden. Marilyn Monroe also has a small role in the film.
