I just had my dog spayed.... is this normal?

My dog is a 10 month old pit terrier and she got spayed on March 31st. She is now trying to jump around and stuff so i put her in a crate to restrict movement. 2 days after surgery she started to pee blood and i went to the vet who said it was normal and gave me an antibiotic and a pain med to put her on. She has been taken the antibiotic for 4 days now and still having trouble holding urine. She used to be able to hold it for like 10 hours now she wants to go out every hour. She pees normal but after stream comes out then she pushes and passes a few drops of blood. Its not comfortable for her. And there was some discharge from the wound. Vet said ok i am not so sure. what do you think?

Holding it 10 hours is an awfully long time so its not surprising after surgery about a week ago, she still needs to go a bit more often. It sounds like she developed a little urinary tract infection post-surgically and is recovering from that. But if she is still not comfortable and is still passing some blood, I'd be concerned. I'd share my concerns with the vet that she is uncomfortable and if they don't listen, find another vet. After 4 days of antibiotics, I don't think there should be any more blood or any discomfort when urinating. That she can't hold it for many, many hours is less concerning, that may just take some more recovery time.

Peeing more than normal is normal after surgery. blood is not. I would find a new vet for a second opinion, just to be safe. dogs need to go pee at least 3 times a dog, I know they can hold it longer, but it is not healthy or normal. So after spaying I would take her out about every hour or so, I know it may sound like a lot, but dogs hate to pee where they sleep, and saves time cleaning up. I hope I helped you.

    PS thanks for spaying!

Something is not right. I would take her to another vet. Peeing blood after spaying is not normal. Take your dog to another vet NOW.

i definitely think you should take her to another vet and see what they think. it couldn't hurt to get a second or even a third opinion. when my dog was spayed she didn't pee blood at all. she was just very drowsy and vomited and had the runs for about a day and a half afterward.

From the canines's ingredient of view, it quite is positively a hundred% familiar. From the human ingredient of view, it quite is quite undesireable. The canines the two thinks she is, or is attempting very tough to be, the dominant animal interior the situation, dominant over each and all of the persons she comes throughout. it is not purely the behaviour you may desire to stop, that's the strategies-set. you may desire to be extra assertive with this canines. i could recommend which you in basic terms detect a coach to artwork with who can coach you straightforward techniques to try this. interior the period in-between, if this replaced into as quickly as my canines and that i had enable it get this a strategies alongside the line to dominance, which would be very not likely, and assuming it quite is a familiar healthful canines, i could carry the leash on it next time there is every person else around. whilst the canines starts off to hump somebody, quietly hold close the leash, grant a coarse sufficient yank to drag the canines off stability, and yell NO! you decide directly to would desire to ask your self the heck out of that canines, and warn your visitors what you are going to do. Then get the canines to sit down quietly beside you, and can provide you various compliment whilst it does so. are trying that a pair of cases and that i think of you would be waiting to make certain some distinctive behaviour. be knowledgeable to bypass her off, too. whilst it appears that evidently like she's approximately to hump somebody, tell her NO and whilst she stops, supply her one extra command reminiscent of sit down, and can provide you various compliment whilst she does it.
