vauxhall vectra problems?

my boyfriend has offered me a straight swap- my N reg 1.3 fiesta with a T reg 2l vauxhall vectra that he aquired through part exchange. the car is in good condition however it has nearly 200.000 miles on the clock (used to be a rep car) and it hasnt been serviced for 80.000 miles!! (will be having it serviced next month when i have the money)now the problem is that it keeps cutting out in low revs then when you start it up again it cuts out straight away before you touch anything! it doesnt always do it but it scares me when i have my daughter in the car and it decides to cut out in the middle of me turning right into a junction with cars coming towards me at 40mph!! please help i would really like to keep the car but worry that it will pack up once my boyfriend has sold my fiesta then ill be left without a car. could it be the fuel pump? or something more serious please help.

Cutting out on the X20XEV engine is caused by the throttle body being in need of a clean out. Very common fault. The idle speed control valve could also be worn out at this sort of mileage. Also check the inlet tube into the throttle body for splits as well as the vacuum line ends for cracks. Make sure the breather pipe into the throttle body is also clear (use a paper clip to push through the metal tube).

Are you sure it hasn't been serviced in 80,000 miles? If that was the case, I'm almost sure the cambelt would have snapped in that time. The oil would be like sludge too.

You're in the realms of a poorly maintained car with an intermitent fault that could take ages to find, if at all. If the car hasnt been serviced then permanent damage might already be present. As for swapping a nice vectra for a humble fiesta? If something sounds too good to true.....

Nicely maintained fiestas are easy to live with and can last forever, hang on to it!

hell man ,i haven't heard of them since i was a boy, lol sounds like fuel ,pump maybe, but if it hasn`t been serviced for that long makes me wonder if the fuel lines aren`t compromised in some way, check the seals around the joins ,soft cake soap can be worked around them to enable testing ,it hardens off as it dries out it can often get you out of a jam ,a lot of the early models had a fuel cut off valve put on the fuel line ,to prevent the car from being stolen ,check it out in case if there is one ,situated beneath the fuel line ,if so it will be set back towards the firewall ,with in reach

The engine having issues beginning could be because of the engine temp getting too warm. examine that the temp gauge is easily working because it is going to (often overlooked) - the thermometer could be broken or broken. additionally, demanding to become attentive to with an exterior 'examine', verify that coolant bypass isn't being blocked/stopped from easily flowing and cooling the engine right! I had the same concern with a vehicle (storage did not %. up on it) and it burnt out a cylinder ....... could not be repaired!
