Has this happened to you?

I had a small complaint for customer service at Walmart today. After I spoke, I realized it was my father's voice coming out of my mouth. Have you ever heard your father or mother's voice coming from you? Have you looked in the mirror and been shocked to see one of them, or another relative looking back?

Update:

Genes are funny. My son died when my grandson was only a year old. Mike is 17 now and sounds exactly like my son on the phone, although he doesn't remember his dad. Talk about spooky!

OMG! I remember saying to myself when I was young and still under my parents' tutelage..."I will NEVER...[do/say] etc when I grow up!"

WELL, suffice it to say I parented much in the manner they did; I found sayings flow out of mouth that were same............and as I have aged, I hear the tone and tenor of my voice sounding much like theirs and my complaints the same...LOL

Case of 'what goes around, comes around? :-)

My grown children and a few of my grandchildren are SO like my parents, grandparents and even one of my uncles, it downright uncanny! My 16 yr old grandson is the spitting image of my mother's brother, now deceased and acts just like him. Genes....remarkeable!

Nature vs Nurture....the combinations give you pause to marvel!

My mother was a beautiful, wonderful woman. I wish I could see her in my face. What I do see is my Aunt Jenny. She was a very modern woman who spoke 4 languages and was way ahead of her time. But-she was not the most physically attractive person. I looked in the mirror the other day and Aunt Jenny was staring back at me. It could be worse. I could look like my father.

Particularly if you are in the back seat of a car and you see your self in the mirror. What a shock!

I forgot to add when I hear my daughter talking to her kids I hear my Mum, which obviously means I must have passed on the various phrases. Amazing!

I was on the point of giving up Y/A because of the nasty comments received in other sections but I come on here and it is so pleasant and everyone is ready to share their memories. Having second thoughts!

When I look in the mirror, I look just like my grandma, and I have a grand daughter who looks just like me when I was a kid. What is really weird is her personality is just like mine was. We are both competitive at Scrabble. I was a funny little smart mouth with humor, just like she is.

I am so sorry your son died, but isn't it wonderful to have a part of him living in your precious grandson? I can't imagine the loss of a child.

My mother had an irish accent...she's recently passed away and unfortunately I will never sound like her I'm American...but the other day as I glanced in the mirror and I saw my mother in my eyes. I had a pang of sadness, I'm still missing her.

I remember while raising my son, that I used some of the same things they used to say to me- which really shocked me at the time, cause I never thought that I would ever do that.

When I was younger, everyone always said I looked just like my mother but I never could see it. After she died, I couldn't believe it but everytime I looked in the mirror I saw my mother starring back. It was so eerie!

I swear sometimes I think my Mom is sitting beside me, My son said just the other day Mom You are turning into Grandma. You know the old sayings they use to say I now notice myself saying them, I don't think I ever did before.

I remember the first time "Because I said so" came out of my mouth. I actually stopped dead in my tracks and almost looked around to find my Mom.

No, but I have pointed out to my son after he admonishes my 15 year old grand daughter for something that is what I told him when he was a teenager. Blows him away when he realizes it !
