I'm planning on buying a turntable in the future... other than the speakers, what else would I need?

I prefer vinyl LPs over CDs, so I really want to invest in a turntable soon. I don't know what to get other than the turntable and the speakers though; do you need a stereo receiver, too? If so/not, what else should I get with it? Thanks, your answers are highly appreciated!
