    Great idea.

I doubt they will tax themselves out of test subjects for the rehab centers & sober living homes.

What will the club owners do?

How will the discos make a comeback?

What will the MADD have to do with their spare time?

YEAH---let's double the taxes on the crappy brew & lessen it on the organic & natural wines & hard liquor.

Booze is taxed in our state but not on military bases in our/or any state. The military has the same/or higher rate of alcholism rates as the civilian population.

Nothing is going to stop an alcoholic from getting behind the wheel and killing an innocent person.

Hospitals and rehab centers would go broke-a good idea because a majority of the programs don't work. The recidivism rate is 90%.

The Federal Revenuers in the Virginias and in Kentucky did their darnedest to collect taxes on booze years ago. Bootleggers would have been out of work if there had been no taxes levied on booze years ago. A bottle of Sneaky Pete was untaxed liquor way back when. I wonder if the government has forgotten about taxing the number of windows in your home and the clocks and watches that people owned. Surely there must be something else to levy taxes on. If they start taxing opinions I am going to be in deep du du.

Booze is already heavily taxed. Just about the only thing left to tax is the very air you breath. Every time you exhale, you leave a carbon footprint.

New report from two days ago, 238 million cows farting in India are leaving a methane footprint (20x more reactive than carbon).

They already do here. They can increase it as far as I am concerned. But it does beg another question and that is when we are done taxing that is PC then what happens when we start taxing things that politicians can't get re-elected for taxing. We are running out of things I should think.

When a politician come out against smoking and rinking and taxation is acceptable what will they do when they have run out of popular causes and really have to start thinking about solving the real problems out there today. Just my opinion. But it does seem they have beat these issues to death.

    Source(s): Good question thank you.

Booze IS SUBSTANTIALLY taxed at present. As far as sin taxes, how about we tax the sin of gluttony (i.e. fast foods, chocolate, chips and the like) that way we can isolate more individuals and ONLY the pure of heart would live tax free.

I'll reiterate Cleo's answer except make it Illinois as well as Indiana.

We already are paying tax for clean air. So yes, the air you breath, clean or not, is already taxed.

I agree with Mr Ed, it is time to tax some of those mutimillions dollar making "Churches". Not for profit, yeah sure.

you can't overtax booze. an answer above suggested it might stop people from drinking , that would save the health system tons of money, and associated problems.

booze is taxed right up there with gas and cigarettes -- just part of the sin tax the govt levies -- i think they should add more taxes to bibles and choir robes!!!
