Flushing on a high mileage transmission is a gamble it can cause trouble. If this is the first time having it flushed don't but if you have had it done before you should be fine.

Changing your transmission fluid is just as important for your transmission as changing oil is for your engine.

Keeping the fluid changed keeps the transmission seals, modulators and other parts clean and lubricated with the proper additives.

If you are planning on keeping the vehicle and want to maximize your vehicles longevity and keep repair costs to a minimum, it is worth the $125 to have it flushed.

Follow your owners manual for changes, but I personally do it no less than every 3 years on my vehicles eventhough the owners manual says I can go longer.

I see many vehicles that have good engines, but a transmission that failed due to lack of service (fluid level checks and fluid changes).

If your transmission is in good shape then it probably isn't a bad idea. It will clean out all of the trash that could flow right back in to your new filter.

I have had that done to a car (it had no symptoms when I had it done) and it started slipping after it was done. Apparently the grit in the fluid was keeping the transmission from slipping.

read the answers from timothy and bandet 6 , I have heard many times that on high mile vehicles this type of cleaning can cause problems. Timothy`s testimony illustrates that. wonder why he would recommend it. I would just keep clean fluid in the trans..... Ask them if they do the trans flush. Will. they guarantee to repair any problems caused by the flush ? and see what they say. They will say NO.

if you do regular transmission services, like every 3 years, you really don't need a complete flush unless something's wrong with the oil, like it's brown in color or smell sburnt.

It would definetely not hurt at all to have it done though.

a flush removes the old oil from the torque converter and completely changes out the old oil. most car mfg. recommend changing after 60,000 to 100,000 miles depending on condition of use.

it,s up to you but myself i would,nt flush it. i saw too many transmission troubles by having them flushed. i had to drop a valve body once because flushing loosened it too much and clogged the valve body up. but like i said, it,s up to you. its your truck.
