Advice on buying an acoustic electric guitar!?

My limit is $700, what do you guys suggest?? I really like the sound of my friend's Martin Custom x-series... it's smaller and looks great with it's natural look, but it's more than my price range.

I saw this on guitarcenter.com ... anyone have this?

I also saw these... anyone know anything about them?

I'm mainly using my guitar to hook into the amp when I play on my church's praise team. I'm looking for a guitar with a sort of brilliant sound... with a more natural look. Let me know if you guys have any advice!

Personally, I have to say look into a Taylor. I own a 614ce and it is one of the best guitars I have ever played. At $2900 it's a little steep for you but the less expensive ones are great too.

I am deciding on a guitar also! If he's 29, I think acoustic - electric. It's a mix in between the 2 guitars. It's more acoustic, though. The mix is that it's basically acoustic, but it has an amp. If you can get one of these, get acoustic. Get nylon strings, not steel strings, because they are easier to press down on and play. I'll list some pros and cons. Acoustic: Pros - 1. I personally think they sound better and look more professional 2.They help strengthen up hands 3. Louder then electric (without amp) Cons - 1. They are bulky compared to electric. 2. They are somewhat harder to play on, just because of how it's made. 3.They usually cost more. Electric: Pros - 1. They are slimmer than acoustic and easier to play. 2. They usually cost less. 3. Most come with a whammy bar. Cons - 1. They are not as loud as acoustic, and if you wanna hear something coming from your guitar, your gonna need an amp. 2. If you want certain effects you must purchase them (pedals, effects boards, etc.) 3. Acoustics or acoustic - electrics are better for beginners. Good luck on your choice! P.S. I think Gibson makes the nicest guitars. They are well known and I just love them!

For sure choose between the Takamine and Ibanez. Both are very good guitar brands, especially Takamine. I own an Ibanez acoustic and it's wonderful. The sound is very full.

Go down to Guitar Center and try those two guitars out. See which one you like better. If I were you I'd have really tough decision on my hands haha!

Go with an Ovation. You can get a really nice one in that prince range. It has a hollow, rounded back and the tone is bright and colorful. I have two different Ovations and they are one of the best guitars out there.
