If I was already live scanned in CA before, do i need to do it again?
My new job is requiring me to be live scanned. I live in CA. I got my live scan done at a UPS store about a year ago. Can I somehow get that live scan and use it for this new job? If so, how can I retrieve my old one?
1 AnswerLaw & Ethics10 years agoRed light ticket in CA?
My friend is an international student and got a red light ticket (she turned on a red without stopping). I saw the ticket but it didn't have a price, just her picture @ the red, so I told her they would send another ticket in the mail with the price. A few months passed and we forgot about the ticket, but another piece of mail came saying she has to give up her license and pay a $790 fine!!! Ahhh! Im pretty sure now I directed my friend wrongly and now she has this fine to pay. What should/can we do now?? She got the ticket almost 3 months ago....*sighh please help! Thx!
3 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoBought used car, question about registration fee in CA?
I bought a used 2008 Toyota Corolla from a family friend that recently moved out of the country. I bought it for very cheap (bought it for about $7,000 with only 16,000miles).
What I totally forgot about after buying the car was the registration fee. My friends are telling me it's about 10%, so about $700. Well, I can't afford this! Is there any way I can get around this registration fee, for example, stating that I received the car as a gift? Or can I state that I only paid $3,000? How stern is the CA DMV?
Does anyone have an experience relating to this?
1 AnswerInsurance & Registration1 decade agoUsed car taxes and government fees in California?
I'm looking to buy a used car here in California. A lot of people tell me to avoid dealers because of taxes and other fees, but about how much more will that add if I'm buying say a Toyota Corolla at around 11,000-12,000?
And also, if I look to buy from a dealer how can I negotiate the price? Or can I? Any tips to getting a good deal when buying from a used car dealership?
2 AnswersBuying & Selling1 decade agoLewis Structures and Resonance Hybrids?
Write the lewis structure, including all major resonance contributors, and the resonance hybrid for CH3CO2-Na+
My professor provided me with the answer to this question, but I'm confused about the structure. The CH3C(O2)- is in brackets and the Na+ is outside the brackets (on the top right, like a charge). Can someone explain why this is? I thought only charges could go in that position, not molecules.
Thanks a lot for any help :)
2 AnswersChemistry1 decade ago1998 Honda Civic Front Right Fender PRICE CHECK!?
Hi guys,
My mom recently hit my honda civic and my front right fender is UGLY and scratches my tire when I drive. A guy at my school randomly came up to me and told me he has the same part and that he'd sell it to me for $45 and install it for $40. Is this a good deal? What do you guys think?
1 AnswerHonda1 decade agoAdvice on buying an acoustic electric guitar!?
My limit is $700, what do you guys suggest?? I really like the sound of my friend's Martin Custom x-series... it's smaller and looks great with it's natural look, but it's more than my price range.
I saw this on guitarcenter.com ... anyone have this?

I also saw these... anyone know anything about them?

I'm mainly using my guitar to hook into the amp when I play on my church's praise team. I'm looking for a guitar with a sort of brilliant sound... with a more natural look. Let me know if you guys have any advice!
4 AnswersPerforming Arts1 decade agoBought a digital TV... can't see local channels?
I just bought a Dynex brand digital TV. I plugged it into the cable coming out of my wall but I can't even get local channels (not even fuzzy ones). I thought I could at least get local channels without having an antenna... do I need bunny ears for this TV to get locan channels until February 17 comes and the digital TV law goes into effect?
3 AnswersTVs1 decade agoBought a cell phone from Craigslist, got scammed?!?
I bought a phone off of a guy on Craigslist.org
After activating it I realized you can't hear anything except the ringtones. I called the guy back and we met again--was going to return but he fixed it (thought it was a setting problem). But went back home and the sound did it again. I've called him a few times now and he's definitely avoiding my calls. He probably had an on and off problem with the speakers on his phone and knew that by playing around with the phone it would come back on......
Well, now he has my money and I have his broken phone. But i also have his license plate number. What should I do... Will the police help in this situation (since it's not that big of a deal for them?).
7 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoAdvice on my physics project idea?
Hi guys,
I'm doing to do a physics project and present my results this Monday. My idea is to measure the temperatures various colors absorb from the sun. The project calls for 6 glass jars, fill them with water, and covering those jars with different colored construction paper--then measure each temperature after time, but I was thinking of doing it instead with different colors of cloth (like shirts or cloth from Wal-Mart or Michaels), and using thin plastic containers instead of glass jars. Would this be a better alternative? The reason I want to do this is because I was thinking thin plastic containers would absorb heat better than glass jars, and colored cloth would be more realistic than colored construction paper. (or what if i just filled big ziploc bags with water and covered them with the cloth?)
What do you think? The point of this project is to measure the temperature each color absorbs from the sun (like when we say wearing black makes us hotter, i want to prove this through actual temperatures).

1 AnswerSan Francisco1 decade agoCalculus: max and mins through derivatives...?
The potential energy, U, of a particle moving along the x-axis is give by:
U = b(a^2/x^2 - a/x)
where a and b are positive constants and x >0. What value of x minimizes the potential energy?
I took the derivative, but I don't think I did it right, and I'm not sure what to do after. Can someone show me step by step please? Thanks so much!
1 AnswerMathematics1 decade agoQuestions on limits and L'Hôpital's Rule?
I'm taking the derivative, but can't seem to get the right solution (comparing to answers in back of book). Can someone help me out and show me how to solve these?
Determine whether the limits exist, and where possible evaluate it.
1) lim as x-->1 of lnx/x^2-1
2) lim as x-->0 of sinh(2x)/x
3) lim as t-->pi of sin^2t/t-pi
4) lim as x-->0 of 1-cosh(3x)/x
I would greatly appreciate help on how to answer these. Thanks so much!
1 AnswerMathematics1 decade agoRate of oil circle... calculus problem?
A ruptured oil tanker causes a circular oil slick on the surface of the ocean. When its radius is 150 meters, the radius of the slick is expanding by 0.1 meter/minute and its thickness is 0.02 meter. At that moment:
a) how fast is the area of the slick expanding?
I got 94 meter^2/minute
b) The circular slick has the same thickness everywhere and the volume of oil spilled remains fixed. How fast is the thickness of the slick decreasing?
How do I do part b in this question?
