What happened to the Ten Commandments?

Why are we supposed to blindly accept that Jesus Christ died for our sins? Aren't we responsible for our own sins?

If you ask your Pastor if God requires true Christians to keep the Ten Commandments, you may get a response about being saved by grace, or that the Ten Commandments are a good moral guide but that you "don’t have to keep them since you are saved by grace." There is confession of sins also.

How can Christians call themselves so and not try to live like Christ?

Again, the same problem arises. Why do Christians think that they are Jews? The Ten Commandments, along with the other 603 commandment of the Torah and the 7 rabbinical commandments apply ONLY to the Jewish People, not to Christian, Muslims, Hindus or Buddhists.

Jews have 613 biblical commandments and 7 rabbinical commandments. Jesus was a Jew. Most Christians are not.

Non Jews have only 7 commandments to follows as prescribed by God to Noah. These are called to Noahide Commandments.

Faith is the denial of observation so that belief can be preserved. Obviously the world evolves and changes, and is far from being the same as it was at the time that Jesus may or may not have lived in.

Unlike Buddism, which i consider more of a philosophy rather then a religion, Christianity doesnt adjust its views based on what is observed, and therefor people are forced to "break the commandments" in order to function in society, and the stubborn christians, unwilling to shape theyre beliefs, thinks its better to just use a loophole like "saved by grace" in order to withold theyre ridiculous beliefs.

You are responsible for your own sins, and your sins condemn you to death. If you do not want His blood applied to your sins, that is your choice.

The ten commandments were the core of the old covenant between God and Israel and no others. Christians were not party to that covenant law.

If you want to live like Christ did, then do so. He broke the letter of that covenant law while fulfilling that law through faith expressed through love, healing people on sabbaths.

The just shall live by faith, and not law. That is what Jesus did. There is a big difference between "keeping" the law and "fulfilling" the law. It is the physical contrasted with the spiritual, and not all are able to discern the difference.

Aren't we responsible for our own sins?

    -Yes. I recommend Ezekiel 18.

How can Christians call themselves so and not try to live like Christ?

-Jesus himself didn't list the Ten Commandments properly.Jesus lived

the life of a criminal, it's best that Christians don't follow that example.

What happened to the Ten Commandments?

Nothing. They still exist. Their primary function was to demonstrate just how hard it would be to be perfect and to convict us of our true nature.

Why are we supposed to blindly accept that Jesus Christ died for our sins?

You aren't required to blindly accept. There is a ton of evidence in many different forms that Christ died for our sins.

Aren't we responsible for our own sins?

I certainly hope not! I could be responsible if I broke the law and pay the penalty of some community service, or a fine, or a jail time. I can't possibly do enough to make up for my violations even if I lived forever. Partly because as I kept on living, I would keep on violating! So, I can't make amends on my own and the penalty of the crimes I have committed against God is eternal separation from Him.

How can Christians call themselves so and not try to live like Christ?

People can call themselves anything and not be it. It doesn't mean that it isn't true. I could claim to be a huge Red Sox fan and not know a thing about the team. That doesn't mean the team doesn't exist, or they aren't worth following...it simply means I am not a good depiction of a Red Sox fan.

Christ Himself told us what is the most important thing about the 10 commandments in Mark 12:28-31

One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

29“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’

31The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

Good luck as you try to sort these important questions out!

Those 'pastors' who think that it is only 'saved by grace' and 'once saved always saved' are not telling you the truth. Salvation is a day by day (and can even be a minute by minute experience), and saved by grace? then they have not studies the Scriptures for they tell us that we also have a work to do in our own salvation, and that work is: we must turn from our sins. That means that We must stop disobeying the Commandments of God.

ha ha ha you are misinformed.... we are saved by faith, we receive faith by grace. The ten commandments are NOT obsolete. We cannot do as we choose because we are saved. Being born again, you will naturally follow the ten commandments. We are not exempt. Even Jesus said He did not come to get rid of the rules.

And yes you are supposed to believe Christ died for you, that is faith.

(even Christians sin. You are a Christian when Jesus is your Savior, incidentally we need a Savior because we are sinful, that is why we can call ourselves Christan's.)

"What happened to the Ten Commandments?"

Nothing - there are still three versions of Decalogue in most bibles.

"How can Christians call themselves so and not try to live like Christ?"

It may have something to do with many having mastered hypocrisy.

    Gandhi: I like your Christ.

I do not like your Christians.

Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.

answer: actually there are 613 commandments. 10 of which were in stone. Christians were never called on to fulfill the 613 commandments but it is somewhat hypocritical to claim the 10 commandments and any law they wish (such as against homosexuality) but disregard the others and accuse Jews of being "caught in legalism".

nothing happened too them just because were saved bye grace doesn't mean you can do as you please there are consequences for sin we don't have to die but there are consequences for our actions

if you accept that jesus died for your sins you try your best to let the holy spirit work in you you try to be like jesus and try not to sin

we won;t be perfect til we get to heaven but as we grow with Christ we should be more like him and not repeat our mistakes if we sin we repent and try to do Better
