How to get rid of ants?
I live out in the country and I have a big bug problem. Right now, my kitchen is overrun with ants. There's a bunch with wings that are just everywhere and a few without wings which are sticking close to the walls. I live in an old house and there's plenty of ways for bugs to get inside, and there's nothing I can do to stop it really. What can I do? If I do have to resort to paying an exterimanator, what is the average cost? Btw, I live in SE South Dakota.

Well if I were you, first I would put down an insect defense perimeter. I have heard that Ortho Home Defense works well for this. You spray a perimeter all around the outside of your house. You can also use it inside, just spray the entire outter wall. Since you have a large problem you may want to do both as well as extra around your doors and windows. This lasts up to a year and keeps almost all bugs out of your house. Next just get some bug bombs, which also kill most bugs and set one off in each room. Then you will have all the bugs in your house dead and keep them from getting back in. This will be a much cheaper alternative to an exterminator. Should be $30-$50 compared to whatever an exterminator would cost you. Just go to your local hardware store and check out all the different products they have. If you have a helpful store, like an ACE Hardware or something then ask someone who works there for suggestions on what would work best for the insects present in your area. I'm from Illinois/ Indiana so I'm not too sure about insects in SD. Good Luck.

If these ants in your house have wings, there is a pretty good chance that they are swarming termites. Call an exterminator quickly.

assuming you are trying to to use a lot of harsh poisons inside your house....
for the local terror.. fire ants...
CEDAR CIDE spray is a good pesticide.. but also repellent...
(for a lot of bugs)
also orange peal extract concentrate mixed with water kills the little pests... and Green light home and garden spary composed of difrnt plant oils and clove oil kills them on contact pretty quickly,, LOWES carries the last 2.. Cedar Cide.. might try a local farm supply
