Presuming that this is a high school project (since in college you can eat and drink anything you want during class), some issues with beverages in class include:

    1) spillage -- slippery/sticky remnants on the floor can lead to accidents and tripping, etc.

    2) restroom breaks -- students may miss too much class time while in the restroom as a result of drinking too much in class. Plus, every time a student gets up to leave the classroom, it distracts the other students and takes time away from the lesson at hand.

    3. Noisy -- some students are noisy drinkers or will chat with friends about what interesting beverage they are drinking. If people are only allowed water, there may be less conversation and more discussion/questions on the teacher's lecture.

    Hope this helps.

At my school almost 85% isn't carpeted so they are very easy on the drink policy. I know that some teachers say that drinks are a distraction, which to me doesn't really make since unless it were to spill. But highschoolers really should be mature enough to handle that sort of thing. I'm not really sure there are anys cons of bringing a drink into class
