Anyone who knows anything about cars will say the tc.

    1. Its a Toyota, so reliability is assured, even though toyota's qulaity is on the decline.

    2. When you decide to sell in a few years, the depreciation will not be as bad as the dodge.

    3. Toyota parts are very easy to come by, so repairs will be very cheap and easy.

The Avenger, is a horrible excuse for a vehicle, i cant understand why you would even consider it, but hey, everyone's different. Reviews have even shown that its a very unreliable car, while also having a very cheap interior and underpowered engine.

If you ask me, dont buy either.

    I would say the Avenger.

The Scion tC actually has the highest insurance for a car costing under $30,000.

This is because most drivers are teenagers, it is the most crashed car of 2007 and 2008. It is the most ticketed car of 2007 and 2008.

Gas mileage is bad considering it has a 160HP 4 cylinder engine.

But it is more reliable and has a higher resale value and is more fun than the Avenger.

The Avenger is more practical with 4 doors, less common, and could be bought cheaper with more features.

    2008 Dodge Avenger Consumer Reviews

  • 1 decade ago

Pretty much every car rating magazine and websight say that they like the tC, while no one seems to like the Avenger. Although the Avenger has the advantage of four doors, and more head room, it pretty much stops there.

Chrysler brand has the worst reliability out of the Big Three, while Scion being a Toyota product has the worlds best reliability. I never did like the 2008 Avengers with the fuel tank that you could see hanging below the bumper, fortunately they corrected that error in the '09 model.

if you want what is the cheapest in terms of insurance or looks i'd probably go with the avenger. if you'd rather have reliability as opposed to dodge half-assed craftsmanship and the peace of mind that you're driving a vehicle made by the 2nd most trusted car company i'd suggest the scion. for the person who thinks toyotas are crap on wheels did you actually read consumer reports or ever own a toyota? seriously, you're pitting a dodge against a toyota. nearly every american car company is suffering economically right now and there is reason. no one wants to buy them because for the same amount of money or less they can get a japanese car that runs well gets better gas mileage, and won't fall apart after 4 years.

if you have enough money to buy an avenger, why not go a little further and get a better car. The Scion cars aren't much under the hood. They are meant for customizing, but mostly for the exterior. Coming in around 160 hp, you may as well go another 2 or 3k and get a honda civic that's got about 190 hp. Its all what you'd rather have the car for.

Definitely the Scion TC no question!

    It's a good looking car...very reliable...holds its value...the list goes on

Definitely Scion Tc; I have a 2008, I love it. It gets about 27-29 miles to the gallon (in the city). It's fun to drive. You'll love it. Trust me.

TC. Dodge is going out of business for a reason. Nuff said

Scion by far. Lest cost, repairs, insurance. better value for the dollar, and gas mileage. Resale is very good for a small car.
