Do you have any suggestions?

I have decided on a new course for my life, and that is reading more non-fiction(ish) books. So I am looking to make a list of books that include history, biography, humanities...well, really anything that is both entertaining and informative. Do you have any suggestions for this list?

In terms of good, easy to read and understand history books that give good information

Anything by Barbara Tuchman and C.V. Wedgewood

However, some of their books can be quite long and a little dauntuing.

For something more lighthearted, shorter, but still interesting, easy to read and with some good information, try the 'Horrible History' series.Although aimed at teenagers, I found them quite good when I read them.

I became fascinated with William Wallace after I fell in love with the film Braveheart, so I read every book I could about him, but he so was not how he was portrayed in the film, according to the books I read he was as barbaric as the English who he fought against, but it was really interesting to read up on him, so maybe find something that interests you in that way, I also read a lot of history books, especially the first world war, and crime books, i.e Jack the Ripper etc, this may not be your thing, but if you find something that interests you it will be all the more pleasurable to read.
