What is the difference in pronunciation of cease and sees?
I am doing a linguistics assignment and one of my q's is what is three differences in the pronunciation of cease and sees? I have two I think
one is that cease is voiceless and sees is voiced and the other is that cease is pronounced as a short vowel whereas sees is pronounced with an elongated vowel. Any help in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I know about the s and the z (hence the voiced and voiceless) and I know about the elongated vowel sounds they have I just need one more. Thanks :D

The major difference is the final s. In sees, it is voiced, while in cease it is unvoiced. You are wrong if you think that cease as an entire word is voiceless whereas sees is voiced. The voiced and voiceless portions are only the last s. In layperson's terms, the last s in sees is pronounced as a "z" wherease in cease the s is pronounced as a normal (unvoiced) s.

in sees, the last "s" sounds more like a "Z"
