the sound is off on my computer , besides trying to turn up the volume from the screen?
what other tricks are there, I cannot seem to get the speakers to work.

1) make sure the speakers work. Plug them into a headphone jack on something you know works.
2) the suggestion above about the muted sound was a good one. If you can't find the button in the systray, look in the Control Panel

were the speakers on when you started your comp. you should have a button on the lower right hand corner of your screen,sometimes under the arrow. is it muted?
