help. multiple antivirus progams running?
i know not to run multiple anti virus programs at the same time but i have installed several security programs and i don't know how to tell if more than one anti virus program is running.
in the windows security center,
security essentials,
virus protection not found.
but it also says "windows does not detect all anti virus programs".
does the computer tell me? where?
do i need an anti virus uninstaller program to uninstall multiples? would this remove the whole program or just the virus part?
i know this is a long request, but we are recovering from a MAJOR melt down and are trying to rebuild all information input with no problems. being a lot overcautious.
thanks.

Go to add/remove programmes and see what security programmes you have installed ...If you have more than one antivirus , then remove all the ones you don't need ...
Are you sure you have an antivirus programme running and you haven't just got a few Antispyware programmes instead
remember you should only have 1 anti-virus programme but multiple anti-spyware programmes

First of all go to my computer if you are running vista and select uninstall programs and if u are running XP go 2 control panel and add or remove programs. remove all your anti virus programs and install just one. the best free one i would recommend would be avast free home edition. You should not have more than one anti virus running at a time because they conflict and slow down your pc. i had multiple anti virus programs running before and my pc was slow until i uninstalled them.
hope this helps

having more than one antivirus means you have more virus databases , which makes your virus scan more efficient , but installing multiple antivirus on a device , make device unusable because each antiviruses eats process and they have interference with other antiviruses and give you a unusable device ,
but i personally recommend you to use cloud base security solution such as donecastle.com service . it provide a safe network by scanning data by multiple antiviruses and you can connect to it's secure cloud by vpn and all incoming data will be scanned by multiple antiviruses (bitdefender, avg, avira) without installing any software on your device ,

You should only have one virus scanner.
I suggest BitDefender Total Security 2009 :)
