5 weeks pp, breastfeeding, period already?

I gave birth vaginally to a beautiful little boy 5 weeks, 3 days ago. I never stopped spotting since the birth yet, but it had turned pink/brown and was very light. Today, I'm bleeding more and it is bright red. I'm having a little cramping as well. Is this my period already, even before I've stopped bleeding completely from the birth?

I'm also breastfeeding, which I've heard usually delays the return of a period.

But is this a period or something different?

It's still considered locchia until 8 weeks postpartum. I started bleeding 10 weeks while exclusively breastfeeding and the doctor sent me for a pregnancy test... which was negative. I didn't bleed again until my son was 6 months, which was about when he started solids, but had irregular periods (actually got pregnant during my 2nd postpartum cycle when my son was 9 months old and I was still breastfeeding)
