Length of c-section stay while your on Medicaid (Cheboygan, MI)?

Ok I saw this question earlier already answered but I would like to know as well.

I am in Michigan

1st baby Cheboygan Hospital in Cheboygan, Michigan

2nd baby well Not there

My first baby I had Blue Cross Blue Shield

I was in the hospital for 2-3 nights AFTER I had my baby (3-4 days) It may have been longer as it was a while ago. They were great they treated me nicely They made sure I was comfortable and anytime i needed anything they were there.

My Second I had medicaid, I had a change in jobs and no health insurance. I was in the hospital 1 night 2 days and was released I never even saw my doctor or any doctor for that matter. (A HORRIBLE HOSPITAL) I was treated like crap. I only received ONE Motrin 600 and that was about 2 hours after surgery. I asked for more as anyone who went through a c-section can say it hurts to even move change positions and get up. -Sent me home with Tylenol 3- Mind you I have a weak stomach I hate pain killers....but I am allergic to codeine -physically sick, vomiting- and I did tell them that. They said it's a low dose you should be fine.

(with my 1st they said i needed to have a bowel movement before i could go home I even opted for suppository so I could go home sooner....my 2nd one I didn't have a bowel movement for 5 days they said by the 6th day they might need to see me)

Now I am pregnant again.*yes we were protected* A big surprise and I am scared. I lost my job and then found out I am pregnant...no insurance again. I am on medicaid again. I get to go to the same hospital I had my first child at. My second was delivered in a totally different county.

My question is

I am on medicaid again, will I get treated the same way as I did for my second baby?

I guess I am wondering if it IS MEDICAID. That caused the hospital staff and such to treat me like a loser/drug addict and so on?

Or was it just a terrible hospital?

PS

1st birth I had a small room with private bathroom.

2nd birth small room "community shower _ewww_ sharing it with another woman after her birthing experience.

I am scared!!! Should I be? Anyone experience Medicaid with cheboygan hospital c-sexction birth...

Of course anyone with any c-section multiple or not please answer as well.

Thanks so much!!!!!!

Update:

1st one was emergancy c-section however it was still considered a normal c-section birth from the time of delievery to realse.

They didn't need to observe me any more then if I had went in for a scheduled one...that is what the nurse told me.

I also live in WI and am on BadgerCare (medicaid) ever since losing my job last fall. I have definitely noticed being treated slightly differently (doctors/hospitals will opt for cheaper solutions because they know they will get a smaller percentage of the money they would normally be able to bill you). However this is not, and SHOULD not be the norm. you should be treated like a patient and your health and wellbeing should be the greatest concern. If you feel you were treated unfairly and discriminated against, I think you should report that, it is not right. If you really liked the hospital from the first birth, hopefully it is just a really good hospital with really caring staff and nothing should change. Just take note of anything that seems different this time around. I'm 36 weeks pregnant and my current physician and hospital that I am with have been really great to me and have treated me just like any other patient - my insurance has never even been an issue. So hopefully this will be the case with you....being pregnant is stressful enough in itself, you don't need any other worries on your mind! Good luck with everything :)

Well I live in wisconsin. I have had medicaid, and I can tell you, that what you experienced, should not have happened. It is absolutly sickening what happened to you. They are never to release you without first having a BM. This is to ensure that everything inside is working properly. In most circumstances, a C-section requires a 48 hr holding period. That is of course here and you would like to think that it is the same everywhere. There are hotlines you can access and find out more of your rights and the right to file complaints. Just access them thru your local human services dept. Good luck...

Thank you for answering my question! I can totally understand you being scared, that couldn't have been the best experience. That has been a worry of mine because I lost my job and don't have insurance yet and am 11 weeks pregnant. I'm not really sure how to answer your question, because I honestly don't really know. But I wanted to at least respond back since you asked me to answer yours because you answered mine. Good luck! I do hope all goes well with you and hope this time you are in caring arms. :)
