border collie pup has sore tummy?
my 12 week old male border collie puppy has a sore pink tummy! he was fine when we got him 4 weeks ago but after having him flead 2 days after i got him he started biting and scrathing himself-mostly back legs and tummy, the vet said that although she couldnt see any fleas they could be there even though i had treated him, she also said that instead of the bob martin flea drop that nxt time i should give him frontline( he is due to be flead again tomorrow and i will be using this) i bathed him in gentle puppy shampoo and started putting a little olive oil in his feed thinking it could be dry skin but his tummy is now sore, and he is still biting it. i now have another border collie pup- 17 weeks old. and they do play fairly rough so im wondering if this could be the cause? any ideas? or advice? maybe i could use a cream on it but not sure what pls help

If you cant actually see any fleas on him then he probably dosnt have them as he has been treated, remember that the flea treatments are a poison and that he is just a baby! He will still be quite sensitive and could have had a reaction to the flea treatment, this has happened to one of my pets in the past. I wouldnt repeat even with frontline.
You can burst a Evening Primrose Oil capsule and put the oil on his tummy to soothe it, try giving him a piriton (if its really bothering him - in case its an external allergy) This was advised to me by a vet with an allergy my dog had as a puppy. I would ask the vet to check for mites but also check if his tummy gets too hot or if he lies in his pee at night (it happens sometimes!) it can irritate. Let the vet know you have given him the piriton and whether or not it has helped as this will give them a clue to whether or not it could be an external allergy (its the four hourly tabs not the 1 a day, half a tablet, 1 morning 1 evening)
Vets sometimes recomend using savlon cream on their skin but I prefer the gentler, more natural EPO, also because i dont want a puppy licking the chemicals from chemist cream.

I'd only use cream from the vets...any other may worsen the pups stomach. Check his stomach carefully for little scratches from your other collie pup...check his stools for anything unusual, and defindefinitely him tomorrow good luck. :)
