Being Content With God In A Situation That's Difficult?

My friends marriage is put in simply a roller coaster ride and she didn't know what to do anymore so she fasted to find the answer she needed. She got it in the form of scripture where God put it in her heart Philippians 4:11. 11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.

So, with her situation how can she be content and what if it gets worse how can she continue to be content? So, is there anything that God says in the Bible that can help that goes with this situation.

i know i have been through alot and have trusted God as hard as it has been. My brother wanted to commit suicide and recently i thought i had a head tumor. thankfully my brother is alive and they have worked out my medical issues but i learned this. You have to trust God in all! my best friends dad started doing drugs and sleeping around. her mom trusted God and prayed and prayed for him. she loved him as hard as it was and today he is right with the Lord. Not every situation has a happy ending but if she feels that God is telling her to be content, then trust God. :) i hope i helped. i will be praying for her. <3

Your friend's situation is similar to many who have experienced it already. Being content with God at this time may seem difficult, but is the MOST essential in order to survive this and come through the situation as unscathed as possible. There are many scriptures that can help your friend. I read these when I need comfort:

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything". (James 1:2-4)

This is my favourite of all from Jesus Himself:

"God blesses those who realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is given to them". (Matthew 5:3)

Contentment comes when you are willing to give up everything for God. Only then are you truly free to rest in the peace and security God offers. Contentment is not about how much you have, but what you do for God with what you have.

I think the best book for this situation is The Love Dare.

It helped me realize that people are fallible, God is not. So, we will never be able to receive complete, unconditional love from people. I spent years waiting for my husband to love me the way that I needed to be loved, but always ended up dissatisfied. This book taught me to seek God and love my husband even when he doesn't deserve love. Just the way that God loved us. I believe our marriages are to mirror the marriage of Christ and His Church. I discovered that only God can give me what I need, and when I am filled with God's love, I am then better prepared to love my husband unconditionally in return.

    Hebrews 13:4-6 (King James Version)

4Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

5Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

6So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

    Here's an idea-

Why not look at the situation itself in order to figure out how it might be best addressed rather than looking to an ancient book with little or no relevance to the situation?

A vision of a coo coo clock comes to mind. Think about it.
